So far he's been useless at everything but taking a lot of minor penalties in a small amount of ice time. The Canes had to do something, so this is a start. I suppose it means Brandon Sutter is up for the year now.

Wouldn't be suprised if Edmonton claims him. Still need a secondary face-off man. Plus Yelle is cheap, doubt he would re-entry though.

I'm not the biggest supporter of bringing back too many old faces... but at 550k it would be tempting to give it a try... but his health has worried me since he was a Flame and being he is a 35+ player you can't dump him if he continues to struggle

Good signing JR. Anyone who thinks Yelle's been bad set the bar way to high for him. He's done exactly what he was signed for. He took bad penalties but other than that he's been a mediocre fourth line centre, which at this point, is all he's worth.

I know JR wanted to let the kids develop in the A, but Sutter last year pre-Weight hit, was much better than Yelle has been since the Flames. Ugh, well hopefully someone will snatch him away, maybe we can get rid of Wallin next?

The 35+ rule only applies to guys on multi-year contracts.

Also, just because he's been waived doesn't necessarily mean he's done as a 'Cane. Unless Rutherford has already announced his intentions?

i believe you are wrong, maybe a CBA expert could clear the 35+ rule

edit: maybe you are mixing it up with bonuses? they are only allowed to layers on a 1 year contract

The 35 and older rule (35yo as of June 30 for the first season of a multiyear contract) only applies to the second and later years of multiyear contracts. OT: Players 35 and older on one year contracts can have performance bonuses written into their contracts.

He was damn good as a 4th liner/PKer last year... unless he's really lost a step since then he can't be worse than Trent Whitfield on the 4th line...

I wouldn't mind Colorado claiming him. Our face-offs have taken a dive this year, and he was one of the best PKing Avs of all time.

I would love the Canucks to grab him, but if he's slow he won't fit into our uptempo system.

I assume you mean in terms of roster space and not cap space? I've yet to be impressed with Matt Hendricks...

Matt Hendricks is out hurt with a groin injury. The Avs have plenty of cap room but we are loaded at the center position. Wolski, Galliardi, O'Reilly, Duchene, Stastny, Hendricks
