Potential of Erik Karlsson

* Will he become a true number one defenceman (Scott Niedermayer's mould)

* Will he become a first pairing offensive defenceman (Brian Leetch's mould)

* Will he become a second/third pairing power play specialist (Phil Housley's mould)

* Will he strike out in the NHL and go back to the SEL or the KHL?

He reminds me alot of Dan Boyle right handed shot great offensive instincts. BTW phil housley is a top pairing d man so was leetch. Leetch is one of the best defensmen of all time if Karlsson ends up as good as any of these three then the sens hit the jackpot.

So he'll either be a top pairing defenseman or nothing?

It's more about their style, than their "greatness".

Niedermayer - solid two way defenceman

Leetch - foremost offensively gifted, not a shut down defenceman by any means.

Housley - as one way as you can get, known as a pp-specialist.

So basically.

* 1

* 1-2

* 3-5

* KHL

Just vote for what ever choice you think he'll be closest to.

If he develops right, I think he could be a 50-60 point man, with semi-decent defense

I think he will be a third defensemen on most teams. Good PP guy, can play the PK, and great puck mover. Not a shut-down defensemen by any means, but sufficient.

Haven't watched him play a whole lot yet, but from the sounds of it maybe a Brian Campbell comparison may be appropriate?

Ouch.

Though, I guess you could be right. Though I'd say his positioning is a little better than Campbells - so he shouldn't that many gaffs in the defensive zone once he gets his grove on.

I had high hopes for him efter the last WJC, but looking at him now it looks like he needs to up his game to even stay in the line-up.

Confidence issue?

Brian Leetch was absolutely a true number one defenseman.

50-60 points? Isn't that a bit much? Although I haven't seen him play much, he doesn't seem like he will ever hit 50 points, maybe low 40s at best.

He's 19 and not quite physically mature for the NHL. Nothing wrong with another year of development.

Campbell has been taking alot of flack for his constant screw ups and bad positioning. I can't say I've followed him personally, just hear say.

I felt handicapped by the options presented. I chose the KHL/SEL simply because, as you put it, that's the closest I expect. I figure he could be a consistent 30+ point d-man in the NHL, but even 30 points a year in the NHL puts you closer to the KHL than it does to an all-time great. Plus, I saw a couple of his prospect games in Kitchener and was not very impressed.

Depends.

If Bryan Murray becomes obsessed with him and ruins his career, he'll be a 3-4 Dman.

If Murray relaxes, sends him down for some seasoning and plays him reasonably, he'll Housley it out. He's still fairly puny and error-prone, to be expected from a first-year player though.

This kid has huge potential. If the Senators organization cannot turn him into a 45-65 point elite power play specialist than I don't think he will ever reach that potential.

From the past few games he's showed me he belongs in the NHL. He's moving the puck well and is improving defensively. I think he'll finish the year in the NHL and have around 20-30 points, while providing solid defensive play. I think he'll develop into a 45-60 point defenseman, similar to a Dan Boyle or Brian Rafalski, perhaps a small step below.

lol

These comparisons are absolutely brutal.

Should just be #1, #2, 3-4, 5-6, SEL

Quite possibly the worst attempt to blame something on Bryan Murray in the history of "sens fan" trolls

Maybe but he's right though, Murray is at fault for everything. Last week, my dog made his deposit on the SBP parking lot, it was Murray's fault.

And ya, if Murray didn't vastly overpay for Kelly, Neil, Fisher and now Carkner, we'd have 3.5 of cap space instead 1.5. It means we just ruined our chance at the cup. We are definitely going nowhere
