As a forward, I'm a good skater, I usually keep up with the fastest players on the ice (except some of these kids who just have ridiculous speed).

Very defensively responsible, always skate back hard on the back check, usually first forward back, always cover my man (I play center).
speed is my biggest issue. i'm not fast.. not at all. but i have excellent hockey instincts (at least i think i do) so i can usually read the play and anticipate where it is going rather than reacting and having to use my speed to catch up...which i am completely unable to do. For my level of play, i think i have average to below average speed.

Marc Staal in playing style but not so much stat wise! I was a physical defensive defensman. I never put up a lot of points (10-15pts a year) but my +/- was always very good. I was top 3 on my team for seven straight years as far as +/- goes. And usually led or was tied for the team lead in PIM's

i don't think there is One one ranger that sums up my playing style when i did play. so i will create a Frankenstein

skated like Brashear
hit like callahan
passed like Girardi
shot like Kotalik

So basically i was slow as hell, couldn't pass. So i would skate down the left wing and wait for the one timer and blast the hell out of the puck.

Drury.

I got a lot of goals going to the net and knocking in rebounds.

i would say ryan callahan....always hard working...had good speed and acceleration.....killed penalties but also played the power play (maybe later this season ha) .....was not a really fancy or overly flashy player but would get into spots for goals...

you know...i always have a real hard time killing penalties...im a strong defensive player, but its so damn hard to read and react on the PK...especially when you and your teammates arent always on the same page (its not really something we ever talk about/practice)...

High school I played both defense and forward so I would say Drury/Callahan and Girardi are who I was most like.

In my mens league now I would say Gaborik as it is much easier to skate around people when you are 10-15 years younger than everyone else.

Can't say about hockey since I only played a few years when I was young but in floorball I'd say I was similar to Kotalik since I had a wicked shot, or maybe Del Zotto since I was a high scoring defenceman. Was often among the scoring leaders on my team despite being a defenceman. Had one of the hardest shots in my age group nationwide for several years. Seriously, when I was 11 I shot faster then some guys on the men's team (who I occasionally got to play with at that age). Had to quit playing just when you go from junior to senior because of problems with my achilles tendon.

I'd say a Drury type of player. Responsible at both ends of the ice, not flashy, not exceptionally skilled with the puck, but I can skate well, put the puck in the net when needed.

The area I take most pride in is my vision. I'm the guy who covers up for the defenseman when he goes deep, finds the seams to get the puck out of the zone, and can pester enough on the forecheck so that my linemates can change. Also, for some reason I always find myself as the guy who gives his stick to the defensemen when they break theirs in the defensive zone.

I wonder how many of the people that said Avery would've ever dreamt of face-guarding a goalie or slashing a guy in the back of the head...

I personally was like Lundqvist... only I played RW... just as strikingly handsome, if not more, some may say

Prucha, although not on the team - small, go hard to the net, got some moves and a wrist shot, work hard in the corners, always getting destroyed

I got destroyed an awful lot for a stay at home defenseman. I was never good at puck handling while skating up ice--always had my head down at the worst times. That's mainly why I stayed back so frequently, could move the puck hardly at all.

Matt Gilroy.

I'm a defenseman, good skater, not big, like to carry the puck and shoot.

Good in my own zone, not a shut down guy, but good positionally.

Decent passer.

Feisty player.

Need a damn team though.

6'3" 280lbs...and I can't skate backwards! So I play like the guy that wishes he could play hockey like anyone on the Rangers, but will settle for the guy that blogs about them instead!

A much, much, much worse Henrik. In college, I actually started to mimic the way he holds up his glove and his wide stance.

Ha Ha. Unfortunately, like Drury. Slower and older but all of my goals are "clutch", since they are so few and far between!

I model my game after Ulf Samuelsson. I'm not the guy you want to be against in front of the net. Expect every dirty trick in the book if you turn your back to me. I'll chip in a goal now and then as well, but I dont score all that much.

Can't pick a current Ranger.... Remember Steve McKenna? Yeah, that's me. Tall, goofy, can't skate and falls down a lot while on the ice.... that pretty much sums me up.
