Michel Goulet vs Evgeni Malkin

Is Malkin on his way to become better than Goulet?

Or maybe you think hes already better than Goulet.

What are your thoughts?

Imagine a talent like Malkin in the 80s...

In terms of relative domination... In his prime, 1981-1988, Goulet is #9 in points per game (1.33)

Malkin, in the same period of time (the last 7 seasons), is #4 behind Crosby Ovechkin and Forsberg.

So Malkin dominates the NHL more than Goulet in his prime. Goulet compares more to a guy like Heatley.

No offense to Goulet, but this is regoddamndiculous.

For prime, it's Malkin in a walk.

How many Art Ross trophies did Goulet win? This comparison is not even close.

Yeah this comparison is kind of odd, I don't think anyone would tell you Goulet at any point in his career is even that close to Malkin right now.

Strange comparison. As much as I respect Goulet there's no way that when Malkin's retired that he won't be as good a player as what Goulet was.

It's hard to compare them, but I would say Malkin is already better.

Peter Stastny is more similar to Malkin than Goulet.

I do really like Malkin....

But running away 30-3 in this poll is silly.

Goulet is a three time First All Star Team Left Winger
Two Times Second All Star Team Left Winger

Malkin was once on the first all star team.

Malkin down the road might be the best player.

But Goulet was top-5 goal scorer almost every year in the 80's.

Goulet is a left-winger, Malkin is a center. It makes no sense to compare their all-star counts, Goulet had far less competition.

Top 5 goal-scorer is nice, but Malkin is an Art Ross and Conn Smythe winner/playoff leader. He's already shown that he's a better player.

First All Star Team at left wing isn't nearly as hard to earn as a Center. I mean that gives Naslund a similar list of accomplishments. Malkin is a premier talent in the league today, while I'd peg Goulet as more of a secondary star like a Dany Heatley. Saying he's comparable to Malkin is like the opposite of the kids today who might say those old timers wouldn't be nearly as good in today's NHL.

I'm not surprised. He retired 15 years ago, and like someone else said, he wasn't a first tier superstar.

Why? If everyone thinks he's better (and there's really no argument for Goulet in this case, aside from having played longer), then the poll should absolutely be this lopsided. It doesn't mean he's 10 times better than Goulet because 30/3=10, it means that virtually everyone realizes that Malkin is better by at least a little bit.

What are you guys talking about? Michel Goulet is a famous singer, not a hockey player. And he sings better than Crosby plays, hands down

How dare you bring logic and rationality to the Polls board.
