When you have a D-man doing all the extra time in an unusual position for him, at his age, the odds of an injury are much higher. Hammrlik is next.

I was really surprised last year that Hammrlik was not injured - for all the bad that was said about him he was still solid enough. But then I found out that he actually played injured for a long time which explains his mediocre performances.

Gorges is still young.

I had a scary thought - imagine that Hammr or Mara get injured too....what will be our defense line-up then.....

I would like to see the following in the next week or so if Spacek is out for a while...

Hammerlik --- Georges
MAB --- Obyrne
Mara --- Carle

Would not be bad to have to Right handed D in the lineup...

I guess we are doomed....

What the heck is up with our luck this year for injuries? 4 of our regular defensemen out of lineup? I can't recall the last time that happened to a team.

Well, if we can unwilfully tank for just a year, the outcome might not be too bad.

That's the only positive thing I tell myself after we lose games.

If things to turn around for us, we might get ourselves a top 5pick. Possibly trade up for a higher pick too.

O'Byrne has been cleared to play, never thought at the beginning of the season that I would be itching to hear that.

It says in the second paragraph, "Ryan O'Byrne has been cleared to play after having missed 18 games with a sprained knee."

So in the morning we hope to learn more on the health of Brian Gionta and Max Pacioretty, who both didn't take part in Sunday's practice – Gionta missed Saturday's game in Nashville with a lower-body injury – as well as whether defenceman Ryan O'Byrne has been cleared to play after having missed 18 games with a sprained knee.

this is what i see, unless cookies are stopping me from seeing an updated version.

Context is important fellas.

Does anyone know if Gionta's injury is the same one he's been nursing since being hit in the foot by that Cammalleri shot a few games back? Or did he re-injure himself? Or do we not have that info?

HIO said it was a nagging injury that he's had for 2 weeks, so your assumption is likely to be correct.

edit: i'm actually not sure whether i saw the 'two weeks' part from HIO, but i still think you're right.

Nothing was ever confirmed but it does look like that was indeed the injury to Gionta,I think it was in that 5-4 loss to Atlanta

Well, if that's the case that should be good news seeing as he played the next couple games after getting that shot on the ankle. It was probably just not going away and he needs to rest it. Hopefully anyway. He's a guy we simply can't afford to lose for very long. Especially given the current context.

Gotta love how arguably both MVPs on this team are out and they were injured by their own team! Not the best of luck.

I'm hoping you're right.

Also, his injury has made me feel a bit better about his recent play, I haven't been too impressed with him and I'd hate to take back all that praise i gave him early on. I hope he comes back rested and ready to go.

Yeah you're right he lacked that jump in his play he had earlier on. It timed perfectly with that injury so it's probably because of the pain in his foot or leg or wherever the puck hit him. That shot was an absolute cannon too. Must've hurt like a *****.

i saw gionta and gill last night(the size difference was very funny). gill had a cast/brace on his left foot but didnt need cruches. Gionta was limping around and it looked as if his injury was on his left leg.

Gionta was hurt about two weeks ago. The healing was progressing well and he continued to perform well too. Unfortunately, Saturday during the warm up, the injury worsened and he was unable to play. He should meet the doctor tonight.

Gionta was hit by a powerful shot from Cammalleri directly on his foot during the winning game against the Atlanta Thrashers (november 3).

If O'Byrne has been cleared to play, does that mean he will be in the lineup tonight?
