Only 2 Rookie "Go-To Guys"

And they would be Raycroft and Tuomu Ruttu. They are the only 2 rooks who are legit go-to guys.

Razor holds this defense together, and Ruttu ended the season as THE BlackHawk.

The rest of the rooks...Ryder, Bergeron, Hunter, Pitkanen...were good solid players, but they were not go to guys on their teams.

I tend to look at it in this way....if your down 1 with a minute to go, or up one in that same situation...who is on the ice for you?

Of all the rookie skaters, only Ruttu and possibly Ryder are on the ice in those situations.

For NYI....Yashin, Peca, Czerkawski/Parrish, Hamrlik, Aucoin are usually on the ice when down...Peca, Blake, Scatchard, Hamrlik, Aucoin when up by a goal.

Boston? Thornton, Murray, Nylander, Gonchar and Sammy when down and Thornton, Knuble, Green, Boynton and Gonchar when protecting the lead.

Just my opinion.

I disagree about Ryder. I think he's a big time go to guy. If it weren't for Raycroft, he'd have atleast 4 goals already. He's always around the net, and creating plays.

Bergeron IMO is close also. I'd feel very comfortable putting him on the ice when I needed a goal.
