How did Hemsky suck? He was flying around everywhere making plays and most surprisingly shooting

I'm not taking anything away from the Avs tonight or Anderson because the Avs did play a good road game but I'm just saying the Oilers didn't exactly bring their A game and come out flying like they've done in almost every home game this season.

In other news, Datsyuk just put the Wings up 4-3 with ~10min left in Vancouver.

He's making brutal decisions right now. He needs to play more like Hjalmmarson from Chicago - stand up at the blue line, make quick passes instead of stickhandling all the way to the center line, etc.

Honestly, when those things go uncalled you should just return the favour. If the officials set a precedent that those type of hits aren't going to be called in a game then you need to answer the bell. Speaking of answering the bell, not a single answer for either of those hits, even in terms of a scrap. Tonight seemed like a night where a tilt would give us some energy and get the crowd going.
Stortini went after the Colorado guy after his hit on Cogs and Gagner went after Galiardi for his hit on Chorney. It was just the Officials didn't let them fight

I have watched the Av's a few times this season and you my friend are selling this team short.
They are full credit for their season so far.

-Moreau is not playing "captainly" at all. How do you sustain any pressure in their end when he tries to drive the puck by himself every time.
-Khabi looked good for the most part
-Oilers did not develop many if all chances IMO
-Seriously missing Staios and Souray, we are going to be in tough here until they get back.
I wouldn't call it a slump, I'd call it Horcoff's Reality and the Oilers' Nightmare.

He had the time to make the play. It isn't like he was going into a dangerous situation; he just turned it into a bad play by making the wrong decision after holding the line.

Bryan, do you/have you played hockey? Serious question, as I believe a defenseman would think of this play differently than a spectator.
No I didn't play hockey, but maybe since you're in the NHL you can enlighten me. He got caught flat footed square to the line. There was no thinking on his part to be ready in case he couldn't chip it in. He nearly got caught in the same predicament not very long before that play. He needs to know how many guys are behind him defensively before making that risky play.

Agreed, but you could probably say that about over half the players on this team and be somewhat accurate.

Horcoff, Comrie, Moreau, Nilsson, Strudwick, Grebs, Gilbert... I could go on

It's fun and quite easy to play hockey when you aren't expected to do anything.

When your team and line is struggling over 3 games you start to have to dig and find other ways.
Hemsky typically tonight was not willing to work for an opportunity through a cycle(even though Gags and Penner were trying it) and was trying to find a wide open play in a game where none existed.

Hemsky has seen this picture now for 3 straight games. When does he adjust?

Does he?

I just can't believe on how often Hemsky gets grilled by Oilers fans. People expect him to score a few points every single night.

If the Oilers had done the same thing, it would have been a penalty. The Oilers got called for everything and the Avalanche got away with murder.

Not two minutes before that play he did the same damn thing and Gilbert was left holding the bag on another two on one. Grebeshkov's play is even more disappointing than Horcoff imo. At least with Horcoff it was somewhat expected.

This was a spanking from start to end and we we never matched intensity.
It was embarrassing. Injuries aren't an excuse tonight. We're in a tailspin and look really soft.

But not as a first line.

And that really says everything about Kevin Lowe - the two superstars, in his eyes, don't even make the top line within a knowledgeable management structure.

Oh that I could suck so badly at work and be treated so well.

I hear ya, and completely agree. He's almost a point against per game kinda player right now and might even lead the NHL with the most give aways/turnovers. He keeps this pace up, he might smash some records.

I can't believe Shawn Horcoff is making $5.5M a season.

The only time that I ever thought that something might happen offensively was when Penner-Gagner-Hemsky were on the ice. The other lines? Forget about it.
