I don't think Ovechkin is into chicks at all judging from that picture. He's got more...hmm...pressing issues to deal with. Such as keeping his body in vertical position.
Kostitsyn looks just like Ryder in the year he lost his game and started throwing airplanes out of press boxes. Luckily he's signed through next year at least, so he won't suddenly find his game when he's with another team. But back to the topic at hand, we really need that top 6 forward, or 2, to complement Plekanec. Plekanec may just be our best player so far this year. I mean he's playing his butt off and is flat out dangerous with the puck. The answer? I really don't know. I love the way Paccioretty is working right now, but he's still not finishing. Latendresse is doing a better job of getting to the right places on the ice, but is still too slow in deciding what to do when he gets the puck. I also really liked what i saw from D'agostini tonight, he looked confident out there like he was playing with a purpose. I would try any of these three guys with Plekanec and Lapierre because they are playing with a sense of urgency and seem to understand that hard work is only way to win games. Until Kostitsyn learns that, he should stay on the fourth line or not play at all.
Markov is missing. Kostistyns are lost and Price too.
In essence, elite Dman is injured. Elite goalie missing. Price turning out to be a flop (at least in my books it looks like that). A star forward (big first line C). This can be fixed by second line scoring but Andrei has no desire to play and his brother is a cry baby.
Missing a management teams that knows how to manage their assets...
as far as what this new group seems to need:
- markov
- gritty, defensively responsible, solid finishing top 6 forward (think B.Morrow, S.Doan)
- 1-2 dmen that are physical but not pylons (think Beauchemin, Smid, Robidas)
- veteran goalie capable of playing 20-30 games at a high level and that doesn't mind mentoring a young up and coming guy who gets more starts than he does. (think osgood, garon, biron)
on the 3rd day of christmas my true love gave to me, a second line winger
2 pucking moving defenseman
and a goalie who doesnt flop around.
Stop it! we still have 3 days before hearing Christmas music in shopping centres!
But seriously, we need our two injured D and a top 6 forward. Could Sergei wake up his brother? I'm a fan of Sergei, but his attitude makes me sick, and don't forget that Andrei always has slow starts. But who else can do the job?
I agree with most people, Markov and OB not being there is a big minus... BUT having a Ryan Malone, Ryane Clowe (seems like a lot of sharks fans says he may be available), Dustin Byfuglien (even if he doesn't score alot), Troy Brouwer, etc. on the 2nd line, that would help in so many ways, add another dimension that is lacking.
They've need a top 6 winger since the start of the year, so that's nothing new.

This. Hamrlik and Spacek are logging big minutes, and this is of course because we are missing Markov. Honestly I don't think there is any help on the way and it's going to have to be up to someone on the blueline to step up until Markov returns.
