Playing like crap in the other team's zone is at least a little more forgivable.

And how the **** can all teams set up a proper power play against us, while we can't even keep the puck in the offensive zone more than 10 seconds during our PP!!!

on both goals, stuart moved out of position to hit, and rafalski was unable to defend. at least stuart connected on the hit prior to the 1st goal.

1st goal was more filppula's fault for not clearing, though.

howard mishandled the rebound on the 2nd.

and now hemsky scores on the PP. howard did not look good on that PK.

Would be nice if we could finish with the same goaltender as we started...

This is pathetic Detroit.

We just lost offense. Thats it.

Last season:

1. Terrible goaltending
2. Average (at best) defense
3. Awesome offense

This season:

1. Terrible goaltending
2. Average (at best) defense
3. Average (at best) offense

It has nothing to do with Eaves and May and their $1M.
It has everything to do with Lidstrom, Rafalski, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen and Cleary and their $28M.

Really? What did he do?

Jonathan Ericsson looks a little pissed, I think he'll throw the mits tonight.

That 1M + Howard was enough to sign Anderson.

But Rafalski making 6M when hes as defensively adept as Lebda is about on par with Campbell and his 7M these days.

waiving Rafalski might do good but not during the season.
we can't get anyone with all the cap space unless we trade for one.
we waive him after season is over than we can sign UFA with the cap space

In his own end, and unforced pass right on to the stick of an Oiler in front of the Wings net.

While I agree he looked bad on the 3rd goal, he is a rookie NHL goaltender. How about they protect him a little bit? Why are the Oilers passing through the slot with such ease? Get the puck out, clear the rebounds, make Howard make the first save and build his confidence.

Howard may look like an AHL goalie right now, but they are playing like an AHL team in front of him!

Mike Babcock continues to mystify, taking Maltby out of the lineup while guys like Leino and Cleary and Helm do nothing to justify their position.

That $6M that Rafalski makes is real money. And Illitch is a real businessman. Hes not going to pay a guy $6M to do play in the minors.

At best, maybe we can hope that Holland grows a mean streak and actually talks to Rafalski about waving his NTC and submitting a list of teams he'd accept a trade to. But I doubt it.

How can we have a perennial Norris trophy winner and two Selke caliber forwards and suck so bad at coverage in our own end?
