Souray Update - Nov. 5 (things are looking up!)

dantencer

Quinn says Souray has digressed. He woke up this morning, had a headache, and went back to bed. Still a ways away to say the least.

Did Tencer actually say "digressed"?

If so, I think "regressed" is what he's looking for.

He's at least a month away. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see him again until the new year.

Lets calm down here, this flu that's been going around causes a major headache, and with it going around the club lets hope it's just the flu. Give it 3 days then see if it's really a backwards step.

I agree, not good at all. I'm starting to get this bad feeling about the possibility of it being a career ending type thing. Let's hope I'm just being a worry wart.

i wouldn't be surprised to see souray miss the entire season... if hes still having bad symptoms almost a full month later, what makes us think he'll be all better in yet another month?

If this was his usual pattern, it would be his shoulder or wrist, not a concussion.

Keep in mind, Dan Tencer is quoting Pat Quinn, so the use of 'digress' instead of 'regress' is just him quoting accurately.

This is just awful news. I seriously didn't think that it was going to be this bad. I guess because he wasn't knocked out and skated off the ice.

When will the injury nightmare with this team end? We haven't been healthy since the 06 run.

So a concussion is part of his usual injury history?

on another note, this just bites! I really do hate the Shames and especially Iginla that much more today!

Souray will be out for the year BOOK IT
His career could also be in trouble, concussions are a very delicate situation, the team is just gonna have to learn to play without him

His concussion really reminds me of Patrice Bergeron's. We all know how that went.

Maybe the NHL should worry about these kinds of injuries instead of what coaches say after a game or stick infractions.

**** the NHL is bush league.

They're not making the playoffs with Souray out for a long period of time. Hate to say it, but it's too much to ask of this group to lose basically their best player (sorry Hemmer).

he always gets injured--starting with his toes up to his head--the point is Mr Muffin man always gets injured one way or another---BTW--He missed a few games with the habs or devils due what was called "An upper body injury" code word for concussion

Well, I would say it's time to go shopping for a defenssive D man then. We need a physical NHL level D man and Nilsson is a good trading asset and we have some other guys who could be used as well.

I'm very concerned with head injuries and how they progress and what effect that has on a player. I wouldn't bet on him being ready for the new year. Time to step up and get a gap filler that cap be dropped at the trading deadline if we have that luxury. Points slip away fast.

I agree with the one poster who commented on our flu situation. One would hope the team will improve once healthy and there is no reason to think not, but losing two of our veteran D men for a sustained period will crush chances of making the playoffs to me.

"Mr. Muffin man" or not, I don't think any NHL player is getting up after a hit like that. Hopefully the Flames get some royal karmic payback later on in the season for that friggin' boneheaded play.

If the final outcome of this is Jerome Iginla "unintentionally" - or as I call it: "accidentally on purpose'd" - ends Sheldon Souray's career... I will **** blood.

Someone should "accidentally on purpose" take out Iggy or one of the Flames star players, i.e. Regehr or Phaneuf...

God this is a daft post. I'd love to see how you withstand the impact that Souray took on that play.

I'm fairly certain you wouldn't have gotten up.

Souray was on a good run of health before a dirty play concussed him.

Agreed about not making the playoffs, maybe it's better for long term success if we don't make the playoffs and get a high draft pick because we were going nowhere even with Souray in the lineup...... Damn, i'm so frustrated now, why does this happen to our team EVERY FREAKING YEAR There's always a bunch of key injuries to this team at some point in the year, freakin sucks man
