If they wanted him they could have had him in the offseason for the price of signing him. He was given every opportunity at the end of last year with Pittsburgh, centered by Malkin of all people, and just could not find the back of the net. A fireplug could find the back of the net if you put it in front of the net on Malkin's wing and let him bounce pucks off it. Great great player, who I loved on the Pens, but you just have to conclude that he no longer is anything close to who he was not so long ago.

Saw this coming. He's done. He's injury prone, slow, weak, can't control the puck for more than 2 seconds, and he no longer even capitalizes on the few chances he gets. I loved when Pittsburgh kept him out of the lineup. He's an incredible liability on defense and basically just can play in this league anymore.

wild will be lucky to get a pick for him at the deadline, he's about done.

I'd take anything for him at this point.

The Wild were aiming for Taylor Hall when they made that signing.

Not a bad move, imo.

Not sure what Fletcher thought with this signing. He, of all people, should have know better.

20 goal guy for 10 seasons, got injured last Spring, he should be a lot better.

Granted, look at how Havlat, Burns, Zidlicky, and the rest of the Wild are underperforming, especially defensively.

sucks when your a one trick pony that rode shotgun to malkin for a couple years and started to decline.

that being said i really like sykora and hope he pulls a decent season out of this one... with his streakiness he could pull out a 10 goal in 15-25 game performance. odds are starting to be against him though.

Richards isn't exactly giving him the opportunity though either. He healthy scratched him for Derek Boogaard for crying outloud. I think he is just trying to send a message to the team, and to him, that he expects them to produce or they will be benched

Edmonton could use him. They could use a left handed rwer on the third line. Put him on a 3rd line with O'sullivan and Brule.

Penner-Horcoff-Hemsky
Jaques-Gagner-Comrie
O'Sullivan-Brule-Sykora
Moreau-Cogliano-Stortini

decent lineup. In theory. What I like is that the wingers on the second and third line are leftys. I know Jaques on the second line but I've always said about this guy he is a tank. He creates so much room and knows to go to the net. He could fit there I'm telling you. And if Penners offense dries up he can play left side too with hemmer.

They can have Svatos. With the way he's playing, he either needs a huge change in scenery or his career is over.

The first team that came to mind was the Canucks.

Also, wasn't Bryan Murray interested in bringing him to Ottawa before Heatley got traded?

Believe so. However, at this point the Wild would be foolish to give up someone who is a proven goal scorer (at least 20). Between him and Havlat, they are the Gaborik replacements. Too bad they also suck at defense as Gabby did as well with this team.

According to Russo, it was because Petr couldn't get his ass in gear on defense and this was a signal to the rest of the team from Richards that it doesn't matter what you've done in the past, you need to worry about the present and the future if you want to play for this team. Petr is being a baby about it still, but whatever.

2 points tonight, could have been 3 or 4 if a couple of pucks had bounced just a little differently. The benching might have lit a bit of fire under him after all. We'll see if it was a blip or the start of a trend.

Sykora looked pretty good last night, finally got Havlat going. Still a little soft on the forecheck, but they were more patient with the puck.

I need to update my numbers, but Belanger, Brunette, and Koivu are all ahead of their post-lockout PPG numbers.

Sykora's not an awful player for the cap hit he's at right now.

The Wild knew what they were getting. Sykora will still wind up with at least 15 goals by season's end.

He's soft and one-dimensional, but he finds ways to score over a prolonged period of time.
