Red Wings get another steal???

Eric Himelfarb is the latest signee of the Red Wings. With the likes of Datsyuk, Grigorenko, Zetterberg and Hudler all being steals, if Himelfarb the next? He is small, but after Martin St. Louis, I think the smaller players stocks rose a bit. He tore up the OHL with Kingston and now, playing for Grand Rapids, he's scoring and assisting like every game. Too bad the panthers, or for that matter, any other team, can't find these late round gems or steals (although Roussin may be one )

Has anyone ever seen Himelfarb play? Does he have an NHL future and what is his style of play?

I saw him play for Ottawa at the rookie camp over here. He was by far the best player on the ice for the Ottawa prospects, he was a bit small though.

Any idea why they let him go?

Having had the chance to see him play all year, I can say this: He is a freak.

He was easily the best on the team. When he had a bad game, the whole team did.

- Extremely fast
- Great stickhandling
- Great passing
- Amazing work ethic
- A touch of grit- He'll go into the corners which is great for a guy his size.

Only thing that I hated about him was that he would always best down the left wing and cut across to center at the top of the circle, making a play that would end up doing nothing (one too many moves, missed pass, etc). It was mainly because his teammates didn't read his moves too well. He did redeem himself for these moves in game 4 of the series vs. Barrie when he did this play and ripped it top shelf in OT.

The only thing he'll need to work on is getting rid of the junior moves when he's playing pro.

He's tearing up the A kinda.

Damn, the Panthers should've signed him to play with Stewart.

MHJS: I assume that you watched Kingston a lot. How did Anthony Stewart look this year???

Thanks

And Congrats to the Wings on a great pickup.

And Congrats to the Wings on a great pickup.
Stewart was dominating at times, but then at others was invisible. He put up points, but a lot of them had to do with Himelfarb. He didn't seem the same after the juniors for some reason.
Some points:

- Just as fast as Himelfarb
- Cannon shot
- No accuracy (His main weapon is the shot from the right side, which is ALWAYS along the ice and easy to stop).
- Beast in the corners
- Tons of hussle
- Very inconsistent
- Great hitting
- Good passing

Oh, and I've never seen a player worse at breakaways. lol
