On this board you'll have to be the one to prove that he wasn't. We're not going to believe it just cause a couple of Leafs fans say it's true.

I also saw Elvis, but it was frozen yogurt he was eating, not icecream!!! And you'll have to provide DNA evidence as to which cow the icecream was made from before I'll believe otherwise.

I'm sorry. I guess we will need video evidence for every discussion we have on HF Boards or your opinion will stand above the rest. If 20 ppl post they say a knee on knee attempt and you're the only one who denies it, I guess your opinion overrules everyone else's because they don't have video replay.

And as for believing what you actually saw, why not take into consideration what other saw before you try to shoot them down and crown yourself as king.

.
No. You are the accuser. The burden of proof is on you.

Why? I am sure Elvis ate ice cream and went to a sporting event before. His past should be enough proof. At least that is what you are using.

No. The majority of witnesses here have sided with the accuser, the burden of evidence was been transfered to the defender to produce evidence that contradicts everyone else. Just because your a leaves fan it doesn't mean that your opinion is worth more than everyone else combined.

I think the fact that we are in the Senator forum may have something to do with that. Even though it is only 2 people.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting tired of threads getting highjacked. Instead of discussing the merits of Varada and the other associated junk its turned into a "oh you prove he's a dirty player" thread.

Please see the following for other examples on our board. And I'm sure it happens on there board too....

Anywho, since we're talking about the character of Marchment lets have a look at a snippet of history.

http://www.livingbeyondreality.com/Marchment.html (Doug Weight)
http://www.hockeyfights.com/player_f...id=90&yr=reg03 - Even his Hockey fight card mentions a knee-on-knee hit by Marchment that irratated Langdon.
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=Ma....z2.ftn&rnum=1 (Joe Nieuwendyk) - Interestingly enough he said of Marchment..... "It just goes on and on with this guy" - BTW, Joe is a classy guy so I wouldn't doubt his integrity at calling it correctly....

Leaf Defender:

I do not believe that I have ever read a more arrogant statement than the one you have made:
"Unless one of you can provide video evidence to suggest otherwise, I am right and you are wrong. You are just seeing what you want to see."

Is your stance not one based on your own observations?
Are observations not skewed by perceptions?
Therefore your observations are no more valid than those you are dismissing.
If neither one of you have video evidence there is no way to sway the beliefs of the other person.

Personally, I believe Marchment was trying to take out a knee on those hits, but all I have is my opinions which are based on watching the events for the fraction of a second that each occurred. That and the past events I have seen over the years makes me believe that Marchment was going for their knees with the hits.
I am only voicing my opinion, not trying to sway yours.

I believe that the posters in this series have been doing a good job of keeping on or close to their best behaviour and I hope that it continues.
Statements like the one that I quoted from you earlier do not help that cause.

Who cares what Varada says. He does this.

message me if you want a full size version.

Marchment is scum. He always has been. Its not a slight on the Leafs to say that since he was like that in SJ. I recall him saying he was trying to 'take guys out' but I cant find the quote.

Again, I know what he has done in the past, like this incident, which happened 4 years ago.

I guess that means Marchment really did try and knee Alfie and Hossa.

Yes, and Joe also said Marchment and him talked on the phone and Bryan apologised for what happened. Again, this happened years ago.

Marchment has been known for knee on knee's for a long time, and when Toronto signed him in the off season, I honestly was kind of pissed off, I didn't want that cheap shot artists on our team. But to my surprise, I can't recall a single knee on knee hit that Marchment has clearly made this season, and he has been a solid #5-6 defensemen for us. He lays clean open ice checks to morons comming across the blueline with their heads down, but thus far this season, I haven't seen one dirty check by Marchment.
