did anybody think that the move to bring up white and pyatt was to see if they could replace chips and stewart? maybe to see if we can use them in a trade?

akost playing somewhat better, wait till he gets hot and then sell at better value

Whitney is small and over the hill no way i would deal kost bros for him.

Im all for Mueller/Frolov/Horton

A Kost for James Sheppard. Both need a change of scenery, both are first round picks, and both have great potential. Kostitsyn has shown his. Sheppard is waiting in the mist to break out with the right line.

2 Wingers that is all we need!

bob needs to focus on getting 2 wingers that can play on the 2nd line that compete, and can score 15-20 goals a year...

tough job getting these, yes.

but that 2nd line is sad, plec's has no one to be creative with

suggestion on a couple:

1.horton hear a who.

2. versteeg

thoughts????

Send a message via MSN to Dan K
Chris Higgins and Michael Ryder?

Really, I think even one stable winger would be huge for Pleks right now. Andrei has shown a couple of signs of waking up, so maybe he'll get there.

We need our D to shape up right now. Can't wait to get O'Byrne back. And then for February of course.

1) Nathan Horton is NOT a winger
2) Versteeg will NOT be traded by Chicago unless you want to pay the price
3) Montreal is not just two wingers away from anything, they are two wingers and a Bouwmeester away from something

When Akost wakes up all we need to do is flip his and Lapierre's spots in the lineup.

No need for other wingers IF A.K and Lats turn on their engines once for all.

But I would like these lines then:

Cammalleri - Gomez - A.K.

Latendresse- Plekanec - Gionta

Moen - Metropolit - Lapierre

Pacioretty - Pyatt - Chipchura - White - Neilson

Laraque and Stewart: OUT !

It's very rare to see trades this early in the year for a variety of reasons. I have no doubt that with the amount if chatter, injuries, number of GM's, Assistant GM's'and scouts at Habs recently that Gainey is working the phones. Montreal does have a lot of attractive, non core assets to trade that other teams may find attractive so I think it's a matter of time before we see a trade take place for a top 6 forward.

Keep in mind, the longer we wait the cheaper it'll be in terms of payroll and the higher a salary we can take on. I think if we can stay mid pack in the standings until February, we can make a final push through till April with Markov back and hopefully have a successful playoff run with a fully stacked top 2 lines, a healthy D corp back inplace and HOPEFULLY Price back on his "A" game.

Sorry, but I don't think Latender is a top 6 winger. He still doesn't go the front of the net of take the body nearly enough for a big man, not to mention he doesn't score either.

The original poster is right on the money when he says we need a top 6 winger up there because as of now, he's hasn't come from within the organization.

I would prefer to give him his chance and wait before wasting valuable assets in a trade for another winger. If we are willing to give a100th chance to A.K., we should give Lats the same. I'd rather have another good d-man if we want to make a real meaningful trade.

And there is also a young guy who is supposed to have understood the ''message'' at AHL: level right now: S.K !

Well, we know for a fact AK and Fatty can score 15-20 goals, so there you go.

Versteeg can be had for a prospect, Hawks need to shed salary and it is a proven fact.

Bouwmeester, I guess that would be Markov when he returns and we all know Markie is better!

Your a joke if you think Markov alone can win the cup in Montreal for us.

Look at the following teams that won the cup in the past decade!

Tampa Bay:
Boyle - Kubina

Anaheim:
Neidermayer - Pronger

Detroit:
Rafalski - Lidstrom

Pittsburgh:
Gonchar - Orpik

That top 4 is pretty nice if you ask me. And Gorges is good too.

He's had multiple chances since training camp and he's proved time and time and time and time and time and time again that he's not capable of ahndling that role.

It's the same from him every year when he comes in, says what he needs to do and then proceeds to do the complete opposite. If he played like he did as an 18 years old I'd be more comfortable with him on the top 6 because he used to use his body and crash the net. It seems that ever since he took out Rob Dimaio and ended his career, he just doesn't have the same fire he used to. Sorry but he's been a fail thus far and we need to look autside to fill the void imo.

Montreal is one winger and a healthy Markov from being a decent team. But Gomez or Plekanec has to go and with the insane contract I would make it Gomez to be replaced by a bigger stronger centre.

But Gainey is intent on sleeping in the rickety bed that he's made for himself so let's root for the Habs to finish last and pick up a franchise player.

Seeing as we need a centerman we'll probably get another franchise goalie.

Yeah we need a couple winger. I wonder when if or the team will consider Sergei's lessen learned and call him up? Because really Pacioretty has no business being in the nhl just yet..

Habs also need consistent goaltending and a healthy D and they are a playoff team.

10$ say Gainey's bed is a hell of lot more comfortable than yours !
Good of you to admit we already have one though.
