Yes, I know, another "OMG WE SHOULD CLAIM HIM" thread, but hear me out.

Christensen, besides being a known shootout specialist, is a 6'1 Edmonton boy who's still 25 years of age and found success early in his career. He's been very good on faceoffs except for the tumble he's taken this year in that stat category.

I'd waive MacIntyre and pick Christensen up.

I agree, could be another Glencross type situation.

usually I'm not onboard with these pick up everyone threads but I see some value in Christensen. That being said I doubt we pick him up based on our roster.

Christensen is a good player in the right situation. I'd pick him up for sure. MacI is basically riding the pine anyway.

What does he make? And I don't know if we are in the position to be taking on more contracts really

yah, don't hate it. But what happens when Pouliot comes back from IR, when Stone comes back from IR. Even if we waive Smac, we are still stuck with too many contracts, or at least we have to get rid of another player

Trade Pouliot for a high pick?

Worry about that when it comes up? I mean having more players that can contribute isn't really a problem.

Plus if you pick up Christensen, he doesn't work out by the time someone comes back, waive him again.

This would have been done already if someone was offering. I think Tambo wanted to send Pouliot to Minny, but they were stuck on Brodziak. Honestly I would not mind just cutting Poo loose. I don't think he as any value to our team. But I don't know if KLowe is ready, still hanging on in hopes of him all of a sudden turning into a decent player.

Waiving Nilsson for him I am not a huge fan of that move. But it prob could be done.....don't think the oilers management will do that. IMO poor asset management even if Nilsson is not worth much.

I guess. Yah if we just cut Smac loose and give Christenson a tryout if you like until the others come off the IR. If he does well get rid of the useless one Pouliot

I doubt anyone would claim Pouliot on the way down to the minors.

Both guys for a pick then.

I agree that Lowe is hanging onto this guy to prove he's an NHL player. I don't see him here filling a need at all. Brodziak was way better and you're likely right about the Minnesota deal.

I don't know what's going to happen by the end of the year, but it's clear to me that Pouliot and Nilsson are both fringe NHLers at best right now. They likely won't be here after this year. MacI I am not sure about. I like his fighting ability, but he's likely expendible with Brennan in the organization and he can't play a regular shift. I have to think they are on the lookout for a policeman who can play too. Pretty rare, but they need to find one.

Nilsson man, cut Nilsson. I would rather the 2 minutes a game that Smack plays, then anymore Nilsson.

Yes, and that rids us of 2 million hey. Who knows, maybe no one picks him up if we put him on waivers

For once, a plausible waiver scenario.

I'd like to see this happen, but won't hold my breath.

I usually don't like claiming players on the wire all that much and would rather fill a void from within, but this seems like a worthwhile project. Send Nilsson down, if he gets claimed no one can say he didn't get a fair shake here, and if he clears, let him play in the minors to see if he deserves a call-up, after or before the deadline. Lowe would have let Christensen pass, let's see what Tambo will do.

This scenario would clear our cap problem as well. Odd, but claiming one player, and sending another down/waiving, would be great cap management.
