im not pointing the finger directly at you, but not being at "high risk" and being in line took a spot away from someone who HAD to be there.
What makes no sense is why don't doctors do it. I got my H1N1 shot as well as the flu shot at my doctor's. My doctor had both the H1N1 and regular flu shots. I've never gone to a clinic for my flu shot. I always got it at my doctor's.

I agree let's be happy for the Flames

Well we know that getting a competitive advantage in a sport is more important than people's lives.

Lets just forget about the people that are dying. Lets forget that NO ONE can get access to the Flu shot now until Thursday but lets be glad that rich hockey players were able to jump the que!

We are not just talking about a business advantage? You do understand that right!

You understand that NO one has access to that flu shot right now and people could die?

You understand that this is a BIGGER issue than a business advantage!

The Oilers going 1 - 5 during their bout with the plague could easily cost them a playoff spot. Each home playoff game is worth more than $1 million.

Classy or not, this is a case where business comes first. It's also easier to beg forgiveness than to get permission. This is exactly why a guy like Ken gets hired to run a sports team. He's affable and media savvy. I guarantee that he will steer this through until it's a non-issue.
while it doesn't seem fair the flames got a special private clinic for the team and their families, I do wish the oilers had done it also.

Stauffer just addressed this issue by accusing the Flames of getting a "backdoor deal" done with the government.

Definitely not what the Goverment and/or Flames Organization is seeing it as.

How they get the vaccine and the Oil does not likely does not matter as its likely to late for our Oilers.
By the time the H1N1 and regular flu shots came out, it was too late for the Oilers. It was mentioned somewhere that the flu started on October 18 and the H1N1 shot came out October 26. I don't think you can get either flu shot if you have the flu.

The article said that the Flames got their shots the day before the provincial government announced the shortage. They probably didn't know there'd be a problem.

Remember: when the vaccine was rolled out, the party line was that they had enough vaccine for everyone in the province right then. There was no effort to concentrate immunization to the high-risk groups, so everyone was showing up. Now, all of a sudden, they're out of vaccine?

The Gov't is basically a business now. Did you really think the "real" world believes in the ideology of "altruism"?

You're posts make you sound way too naive

The Flames organization has stopped commenting. Wonder why?

As for the government they are investigating an issue that should not have happened and have already said it was WRONG.

What part of that are you having trouble understanding?

Your posts are too complacent, frankly. Not sure why you wouldn't be wanting something like this to change, or at least be concerned about it... It's the way it is, oh well, all is forgiven. Doesn't work like that when someone loses their child.

Thanks for letting me know.

But really two wrongs don't add up to a right.

The Government has mishandled this whole thing and this just adds to it!

i'm not saying its right. frankly, its unacceptable to the n'th degree. its just that this **** happens all the time.
don't take my remarks as saying "meh, its ok"
its just that some of the posts here act like they are shocked that this thing would happen.

And in most cases I could care less.

It is not life or death that Smid can get an MRI before me!

It is life in death if Jarome Iginla can get a flu shot when NO one else can and lives are at stake!

thats really what it boils down to: the govt screwed up

and it will not show up in elections to come unless farmers start dieing, which they wont of course because who's going to give them the flu?
