My cat could skate as well as he does... He managed to get noticed for all the wrong reasons despite being barely used.

The defense should have been the first thing overhauled. Thats where championships start and everyone knows that. Having two very young goalies should have been an obvious reason to fix the defense as well.

Why is this a surprise? Have you seen him play before he came to Montreal? He was HORRIBLE! I expected this kind of play from him. There's a reason why other teams passed him up.

you might want to look at the game again.

With 3 regulars out with injuries, including our best one, were you expecting stellar D efforts?

I really thought that MAB was a nice addition to this team. I expected bad D from him, but not THAT bad... we booed Brisebois for less than that.

what the "$"/!% are we supposed to do with 3 defensemen injured...
I was never for MAB on this team...There was reason why no team in the NHL wanted to touch this kid with a 10 foot pole!

exactly. I would be happier seeing rookies step up and develop instead of watching MAB in the same spot.

You can't blame carle for squat. carle was a +1 and MAB was a -2.

Halak, Halak, Halak. Before this game, the Habs scored 10 more goals with Halak in net compared to Price. GAA was basically the same.

If Halak was that great, the Habs wouldn't have been destroyed by the Pens after 2 periods.

Halak and Price are the same. It just happens that the players in front of them played better or worse some nights.

i always defend price..the difference in this game was the terrible goal he gave up to popovic.

halak gave up 4 to the leafs but none you look at and can be like "wow..that was brutal."

tonight..price gave up 4..made some very nice saves as well..left without a chance on some..but no excuse for giving up the third goal.

and just terrible defensive coverage and overall play from bergeron, mara and carle.

It wasn't entirely his fault, but I don't think he should get immunity. Most of those goals would be pretty hard to stop, but to mee he looked like he wasn't giving a second effort. Like on that cross-crease PP goal. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have stopped it anyhow, but on the replay you can see how he doesn't even extend the stick to try to stop it.
I don't know what that missed glove save was either. Was that tipped, or is he just really bad at baseball?

I keep hearing this, yet we have two sub-.900 goaltenders. I'm tired of it.

Either the D personnel is terrible, the defensive system isn't nearly as good as advertised (yet), or we're making excuses for the goaltenders.

I'll grant that lack of 3 NHL starters on the blueline hurts badly, but this is not a defense that should be so terrible.

Give me a break. Are we that desperate to praise him that we're rewarding him for missing the net and having his shots blocked?

Good for him for the assist but let's face it: all he had to do was shovel it over to Plekanec who took advantage of a completely out-of-position Pavelec.

He was lousy, yet again.

1)He has to be in the blue paint when the puck is that low, where do u want his to be? The hash marks??
2)He was on the left side the puck went accros to the right side with a guy right at the door step. Again i fail to see how thats your goalies fault.

Price's every mistake on a not so great team is under the microscope, it used to be the same for Patrick Roy, most nights Roy had to be the best player on the ice in order for us to win. Our defense tonight was horrible, and i'm being kind, there is no way Atlanta(minus Kovalchuk)should be able to have such an easy time scoring goals against any team. We need help on D bigtime, I hope at least O'byrne can soon get back, also im able to see why MAB was not signed by anybody, wow he sucks.

Damn no defense, no second line, no grit. We need a trade. We can't hope to continue to have a D so abysmal and maybe only Gorges that plays well. We can't hope to amount to anything without NHLers on the second line. And our grit, heck only Moen is interested in providing any but he has no support.

all in all i think Halak will be in nets thursday?
ok so the D was horrible, if let's say, we win against boston with halak and the same d, are people going to stop threating Price with little white gloves?

True. Only one where he can be "blamed" (if by that you mean he SHOULD have stopped it under any and all circumstances), but 2 others where he did himself no favours (by which I mean the way he played them left him 0 chance of getting lucky or being able to make a play... very different from "blame" as he COULD have done better, not SHOULD have done better).

But anyway, I'm really tired of seeing the defense get dissected by passes through the slot to completely open players. Everyone seems way too intent on the puck or trying to be responsible for too much, and the basics (like picking up an open guy and sticking to him) seem to be getting lost in the panic.

I wish we could have kept it tied longer than 30 seconds. I did a fist pump and yelled out hooray only to facepalm so soon after.
