A guy on my team broke his leg a couple weeks ago on a play similar to Rivets. When I saw the play, my immediate reaction is that he could have broken one or both of his.

When the skate slams into the boards, it is very common for the fibula to break just above the top of the boot.

Per the Buff News, Rivet skated this morning for 15 min but wont play tonight. May be back by next week. Goose apparently out for a couple weeks with a knee injury.

That's the biggest loss IMO. No one on our team comes close to him at the dot.

No way he is better then Brindamour(who led the league last year at 61%), 63% this year.

It all depends on who you are taking faceoffs against.

Maybe so, but BrindAmour has that ugly mug to distract people with. That's almost cheating.

You have the numbers mixed up. Gaustad is at around 63% now, Brind'amour is at 56%. So yes, he is better than Rod so far this year. Don't let that derail your crusade though, full steam ahead.

Butler is out tonight for the game against the Rangers. He has a sprained ankle, and the swelling has gone down a bit. He's day-to-day, I expect him to take a week or so off.

Grier not at morning skate, but not due to injury. His mother is ill and he left to see her. He will not play tonight and there is no timetable on his return.

i was wondering ... if we put someone on wavers, can the player decline to go to a certain team? how exactly does that work?

Sekera questionable for 12/09 Wash. game with ankle injury
http://www.wgr550.com/Sekera-is-ques...n-game/5846903

If Sekera can't go, I'd expect them to move Paetsch to defense and callup Mancari or Ennis (probably Mancari for bottom 6 duty). This is just my speculation.

Is Gerbe still injured? He's definitely up on the list of potential callups

No, he's healthy, but I feel, if it's a top 6 they need, it'll be Ennis, if it's a bottom 6, it'll be Mancari. Gerbe's been passed a bit on the depth chart, probably would be 3rd in line.

Still not sold on the idea that Gerbe has been passed by and is not going to be given a look first.

I severely sprained or broke my ankle (couldn't fit a shoe on for a couple weeks, even without laces) in a pick up game on a play like that. Though, as I'm not a very good ice skater compared to my ability in roller hockey, I lost my edge myself while going hard at the boards and turning away as I collected a bad pass. Ended up playing the rest of the game and each week after cuz I'm an idiot

Told ya!!!

Give the kid a chance to play. Too many of you are too willing to cast him aside. He had a ten game stint as a rookie. He is an offensive talent and needs to adjust to the speed of the pro game. Many were expecting great things and he was tight. He was our number one prospect last year.

I still believe Gerbe has what it takes to be a quality top nine NHL forward. He might only be a 10-15 goal third line energy player, but he'll find a way to belong. If anyone can succeed at 5'5", it's a guy with a demeanor like Gerbe's. Ennis does have more upside, but he was only brought up earlier in the year because Gerbe was dealing with injury at that point. Hopefully, both are able to force their way into the regular lineup sooner rather than later, and that coincides with the infusion of size that should come with Kassian, Adam, and the like.

there's no word on Butler but,
Sabres center Paul Gaustad skated with the team in a noncontact role. It was his first time on the ice in hockey gear since injuring his right knee Nov. 27 in Philadelphia. There is no time table for his return.

Ruff said forward Mike Grier, who has missed two games to be with his ill mother, is expected to rejoin the Sabres on Saturday in New York.
