This game was yet another example of why the canes are never going to be a consistently dominant team until things change. We occassionally get hot with effort and smoking mirrors, but at the core, when we need a goal we dont have legit "scorers" who can put the puck in the net. How many times have we had 15-20 shots in a period and not scored? Too many for me to count. Grade A chances we shoot wide or hit the goalie in the stomach. Eventually we are going to have to get some guys with legitimate skill. Hopefully Boychuk, Bowman and Sutter along with the offensive D guys we have drafted the past couple years will be those skill guys we need. Lets be honest though, Cole is not a sniper, neither is Staal. Staal scores a lot of raparounds and banger goals, which is great. Whent he other team clogs up that area though, you have to loosen it up with some skill, and we just dont have that. I'll be going to see it first hand though tomorrow.

Lets hope that Boychuk gives me a glimmer of hope.
