Sweet.

His stay might not be long but it will be nice to see how Eller fares in an NHL game.

Seriously, having a rookie like Lars up may be just the thing to inject some enthusiasm and help guys not grip the sticks so tight. I hope his play is so good that they are not able to send him back down. I assume he's playing in McDonald's spot and that Oshie is back.

I'm more excited to see him than any rookie in a long time (in part because I didn't know enough about Oshie at the time). GRINS.

Sweet, it seemed like he earned it in Peoria and just needed an opportunity to step into a top 6 role instead of just filling out depth. I hope that Murray lets this guy have a solid chance to succeed with whatever length of time he gets in the NHL.

I think its the right move. JD has given this group enough time to adjust after sweden and he doesnt like what he is seeing. If things dont change other players will be moved up and down the Peoria shuttle like Draz, Porter, Junland and others. The Blues have depth in the minors so now is the time to use it before they slip out of contention for the playoffs.GO BLUES

Oshie is returning. So, with Eller also coming in, and McDonald out, The Blues can switch up their scoring lines. Eller and Oshie coming in will add a little skill (not vs. McDonald, but the forward Oshie replaces), toughness, hitting and defence. Adding Eller and Oshie should add more energy and young legs. Maybe everyone will play with more determination, to avoid having a rookie, in his first game, show them up?

In any case, I hope Eller looks so good, he doesn't ever get sent down to Peoria. Maybe Winchester will lose his place in the top 9.

For all the random Europeans that may be dropping in here's a link to an article from our beat writer on the Eller call up.

I'm pumped! I'm going to have to see if I can get off work early tomorrow to make it up to the game.

I definitely wouldn't say 10 minutes per game is top 9. Even with Oshie out, Winchester hasn't cracked the top 9.

8, 4, and 10 minutes over the last three games.

But if Eller plays well enough....when Steen comes back if no one else is injured I think Winchester has just about played himself out of the line-up at this point.

That was my point. Winchester was mainly on scoring lines and had PP time last season. This season, injuries have changed the lines around. Steen plays well with McClement and Crombeen. Eller, with his hitting, fighting for the puck in the corners and 2-way play, might be a nice fit on a line with Oshie and Tkachuk, as a 2-way:energy/defensive/scoring line. Boyes, Kariya, McDonald, Backes, and Berglund shouldn't be saddled with Winchester, who is a VERY poor set-up man.

Will definitely be watching, really happy that Eller finally gets his shot after everything he's been through the last few seasons.

It's a mystery still. He doesn't have a number listed on the official Blues site, though he's listed on the roster. He wears 20 in Peoria for the Rivermen, but that's not possible since Alex Steen currently occupies #20 for the Blues.

I imagine they're giving Eller the night to decide and it will be stiched on his jersey tomorrow afternoon sometime. Though Eller himself stated that he wished to wear #61 during training camp. According to a couple posters on another site, he's even gone so far as to sign #61 under his name.

Not to be too skeptical, but I'll bet Eller watches to start.

He wore #16 for Frölunda while playing in the juniors, and #61 in Elitserien (#16 being taken already). He has used #16 and #20 with the national team. Obviously he can't wear #16 with the Blues so I guess, and hope that he takes #61.

61 unless for some crazy reason the coaches wouldn't allow it (the Blues have no significant player to ever wear 61). It's the number he wants to wear.
