I can't believe how perfect of a replacement for Gionta he's been. Kid's gonna be a bigger scoring threat than Gio ever was too.

Eh, I doubt that. I do think Bergfors' game is much better suited to the Devils than Gionta's was. Gionta was not nearly the possession forward Bergfors is.

Aside from 05-06 (when everyone and their mom had 30+ goals), Gio was a perennial 20-25 goal scorer. You don't think Berg is gonna pot 30 some day?

You said "than Gio ever was." "Ever" includes 05-06.

What gets me so excited about Bergie is that he's been improving at a steady pace. When I saw him in preseason, I was a bit concerned about his defensive play (or lack thereof). Especially with Lemaire behind the bench. He's gotten much better in his own end, and he's turning into a good all around player. That's what the Devils like.

This cannot be denied. Did you see the effort he put in backchecking tonight? Busted his ass back numerous times to cancel out an attacker. Effort like that, and the effort he displays in the corners, cannot be overlooked. The two goals are going to boost his confidence tremendously.

It just feels so good to see him playing well and improving every game. Shutting all the haters up.

This season has started very well. I'm really happy that Gio is off to a great start in Montreal (if you watch those games he's flying and getting a TON of scoring chances) and even with that great start I'm not disappointed that Lou let him go.

I can't wait to see his creativity improve as his confidence increases. We've been way too predictable, especially with Elias out of the lineup.

Absolutely agree. Bergfors is strong on the boards, cycles well, uses his linemates effectively, backchecks aggressively, creates exciting plays out of nothing, and scores to boot. He is quickly turning into a complete player for us under the tutelage of Lemaire. I know I did not predict this sort of performance from Bergfors even a few months ago. I hope he can keep it up for the whole season, and years to come.

Can we stop torching Jim now? The guy was obviously quite spectacularly wrong, but there's really no reason to rub it in every time Bergfors does something good. He is a fellow Devils fan, and probably just as pleased that Bergfors is doing well, because it helps the team.

He basically littered the board with his bias the whole offseason. We had threads derailed because of the Bergfors hate.

I guess you're right though, but whatever. I'm just happy for the guy to be helping the team out.
