All Hail The Yankees!

Ya I know it's a hockey site, but excellence needs to be recognized. And tonight, it shall be. The New York Yankees, my very favourite baseball team, won their 27th title in an illustrious history, the most by any professional franchise. Love them, or hate them, this team knows how to win, and armed with another huge payroll, that is exactly what they did, turning away a worthy opponent in the the Phillies, who were outplayed and outclassed in this series. That slight bump you felt tonight at 9:52 was the earth correcting itself on it's axis. I shall have a couple celebretory drinks this evening, and then off to bed for some sweet dreams. All is well in the world tonight. Tomorrow is another story in dealing with the Edmonton Oilers.

Congrats but this was bought, not won on merit. Until equity is brought to baseball, it will be a pretty boring exercise.

Sooooo $200 million is what it costs to get a World series. Ok, gotcha.

What a farce MLB is becoming.

Yankees win the homegrown player battle, and have long since earned the millions of fans that net them the income that gives the advantage they enjoy.

Second best thrill for me besides and Oilers' cup.

Booooooring.....same time same place next year? Until the teams are not allowed to buy their way in, label me a pathetic April May loving Blue Jays fan.....I hate the Yankees.

Congrats to out spending the next closest team by 70 million. The Marlins spent around 25 million in the basement. How can you compete with that? I love baseball, but hate the MLB's disparity of ability to compete.

Personally I put an asterisk next to this one. Just like most of the records held by the leagues best players who have been revealed to have done steroids

I love how everyone feels the need to register their hatred of the Yankees like it's some sad badge of honor. It makes moments like this, for those of us who aren't constantly blabbing, even sweeter.

Lack of parity is actually why I love the MLB. Contrived parity is anti-sport.

hahahahahahahahahha!. Expected the jealousy, and love it. Especially from a Bosox fan. Money helps of course, and I really do wish the Yanks didn't spend so much, but it is what it is. Funny, the Rangers in hockey spent a whack of dough every year, but missed the playoffs. While payroll is important, it is also important to spend it correctly to make it pay off in terms of a good "team" and not a just a collection of stars. The Yanks finally got it right this year.

its all contrived. along with the socialization of sports. (if it wasnt there would be no sports psychologists, need for "motiviation", or people whining about why Dustin Penner doesnt want to kill people at his size)

dont get too big of a hard on.

I'm a huge baseball fan but this gets a "meh" from me

any year the Yankees don't win the World Series is a huge surprise for me...

As a Cubs fan, I'll learn to appreciate the World Series if I'm ever alive to see the day

I wonder what the ratings will be for the World Series cause outside of Yankee and Phillie fans, this was a VERY boring series

Awesome season for the Yankees. Loved every minute of it. So happy A-Rod busted out of his October funk to have an amazing post season. All around post season MVP in my opinion.

as a sidenote, I don't think Yankee fan ever gloat any more...it's like "ho hum another title...bring on number 28"

Meanwhile, every other baseball fan gloats in their face when they DON'T win...lol

I am happiest for Jeter & Rivera.

They are the 2 best baseball players I have seen in my lifetime & I've seen some greats.

I thought Alomar at his pinnacle was the best I would ever see...but Jeter & Rivera are miles beyond that now because they remain at an unparalled level for so long & they both deserve this.

On their eighth mulligan. How impressive. And no, I'm not a Red Sox fan, or really even a fan of any one team, just a fan of the game of baseball. And the game is still great. The sport has unfortunately been completely destroyed over the last 20 years, and the Yankees are the posterboy for that destruction.

No way, we'll gloat while we have the chance. The titles don't come as easily as they used to, or you would think they would. Not since 2000, a full nine long years ago.
Despite payroll, there are just too many other good teams out there.
