Lets not get carried away. Just like one would say to the doom and gloom posters, its only been a few games. We've been scraping together the offense lately. We've been fortunate to have great PKing, defense, and goaltending, but it seems we have a little ways to go before we can get both the offense and the defense running simultaneously. A little work on our shooting - in terms of precision and timing - would go a long way, one would think.

Just to clarify, I'd be happy winning 2-1 or 3-2 games for the rest of the season, but having scored just 5 goals (discounting the EN) in our last 3 games, and having scored fewer goals each game should be something to consider.

Did you say goaltending?

lose 3 straight games and we will not make the Playoffs, win 3 in a row and it's "here come the Wings"?

...just another day here at hfboards...

Wurd...this place is bi-polar. We're not even at the quarter pole on the season so everyone needs to cool it on the predictions and outlooks.

I think most of can agree the last three wins are more like the team most of us expected (or at least hoped for)...lower scoring than last year but solid defensively. Ozzie has played his best hockey (in the regular season) in quite a while. It's nice to see his GAA well under 3.00.

That being said...they can lay a turd on Saturday and it's a free-for-all back into the panic room!

Meh. Its a reaction to the general panic here prior to the latest 3 wins. At least nobody has to be traded today

That's true, the Wings missed a lot of shots.

True, but Sammy only 16 missed shots so far, while Hank (who leads the Wings) has 18 missed shots. In fewer games, I might add..

Overall, the Wings are 12th in missed shots in the league, but again, they've played fewer games than most of the teams ahead of them.

I'll take the Nordic route and pat myself on the back for being right. This thread was as presumptuous as the doom-and-gloom threads.

Right about what? This is still a good team. We have a bunch of injuries to overcome. Patience is a virtue.

My post was pretty much correct on all accounts, but enough of the self-adulation...These hot streaks don't mean we're headed towards becoming a top 4 seed again, and these cold streaks don't mean we're headed towards the front of the draft line. If anything, we should take into consideration the overall picture, and taken together our 15 game performance thus far indicates one thing: we're an average team who isn't going to win any games on talent.
