I never got the point of +/-. I mean, wasn't Kurt Sauer one of our best +/- player at one point with a + 15? The only problem I have with +/-, I don't know if it was mentioned here, is that it isn't a stat that is determined by the player's own performace.

So you are Eklund. Well, explains the lines.

Eh, debatable. Kane = more Flashy and higher point production for sure but Toews is more well rounded. I can Kane finishing with higher career points but not the better career if that makes sense.

Exactly, which is why I find it wierd that he is a minus 5. IMO it's only because he is on the penalty kill while his line doesn't produce many points

Duchene's line doesn't have much chemistry. Being paired up with Svatos all year has sunk Duchene's +/- like an anchor, and between Tucker/McLeod and Svatos, he's had no one to generate any offense with. The grinder's can't keep up, and Svatos is... Svatos. He tries, but unless he's in one of his hot streaks he's worthless. And so far he's been stone cold all year.

It's that time of month.

... Kidding.

I don't think Sacco condones fighting... I remember last game Stewart was gonna scrap but the ref broke it up... He's more of a PWF instead of an enforcer (eg Koci)

I've posted this in every GDT we've won...

Parker is such a beast. I wish he was on the team just to be there.

You guys know that Parker has retired from hockey due to concussion problems, right?

I'm so sad I can't find a you-tube clip of Chris Stewart in on the forecheck last season where he literally just bounced between two players hitting them both off the puck. One shift, at least 4 hits. Brilliant...and that is what he needs to do more of (not necessarily 4 hits per shift but getting down low and knocking players off the puck.)

I've never looked at him as the next Parker (because he has speed, some skills with the puck and a bit of an ability to score more than half a dozen goals.) Deader and Kono really need more time with this kid for him to realize his potential.

If any of y'all have a clip of Stewart running amuck on the forecheck from last season I'd sure love to see it again.

[edit...Tonight is Podes' night...I think the game must be a workman's like game that emphasizes the virtues of hard work in all three zones and being relentless on the forecheck. Third and Fourth lines should be the difference tonight if they want to pay tribute to Podes.]

PS- That doesn't mean the first two lines can take the night off again or capitalize late in the game. They need to play hard and be dangerous all night long, not mail it in. I'm just expecting the 3/4 lines to be the difference makers by putting points up.

He's only going to be an RFA, so you're gonna have to pony up if you really want him.

Anyways, good luck tonight guys, it should be a fun game.

Well its somewhat useful in seeing how players did in their roles.

2001 season made up stats:

Klemm +18
Footer +10
Bourque +12
Arnason -7897

Does this mean Klemm was the best player? No but it shows he was very effective in the role coaches asked him to play. Likely being a third pairing kind of guy.

Arnason is so giraffe-humping bad he went back in time to a team he didnt play for and was still a minus player. And I invented a new phrase to describe his terribleness.

Scott Parker is a bum who can't skate. The best thing he ever did in his meaningless career was not report to Lake Erie so the Avalanche could terminate his contract.

Agreed. He was our enforcer, but couldn't ever stop my biggest nemesis (Brashears).

That's what he's been playing recently. Those lines (the defensive parings at least) aren't inaccurate.
