At the time of the signing he was far and away worth 2.5 mill, maybe up to 4-4.5. But the way he doesn't fit the system and the way he's been hung out to dry he hasn't had a chance to justify his salary. Problems at both ends.

Who is centering Jagr these days in Omsk? If the rumors are true that they were interested in Forsberg, maybe they'd want Nylander.

I guess.

Not really his fault or the teams fault that the team changed coaches and systems that don't fit his style.

Why do people think he is a bad player now?

He just dont fit in the caps style of play and the cap hit with his salary are to high.
But its not like he is washed up or anything.

only one year where it made a significant difference, but it still could explain part of it.
07-08 is only 40 games, so 18 PPP's is a lot. 37 PPP pace

Which would make 05-06 the only season that doesn't make sense here.

Rouble, and there's no official sign for it.

"ру6" is popular though.

Bolland is hurt and might have back surgery. Hawks just might take a flyer on his half price recall.

Which is likely never coming. If he's consented to waivers the Caps probably have no reason to put him on recall; either they're willing to play him in the AHL or they've already organized a loan with another league.

Could the habs use him on the 2nd line with Akost and Plekanec?

Or is he more of a 3rd line player?

Definitely a top6 kind of player. 679 points in 920 games, average of 60 points/season if it was full seasons. His scoring pace has never been below top6.

He's a fine playmaker still. The only reason he doesn't fit the Caps is because he slows the game down too much compared to the rest of the team's up-tempo style. He doesn't fit here at all. Elsewhere? Probably still has everything he needs to be a fine 2nd liner, or better (in a pinch).

All he needs are mature, cerebral, skilled, defensively-responsible wingers and he can be an effective NHL top 6er still.

He needs Jagr on his right and Straka on his left.

"Bad"? Never.

But the better question is: why did some ever think he was a special player, aside from a smattering of seasons with impressive offensive stats?

Guy is a perimeter player who dipsy doodles and wows the ESPN highlight crowd...and often disappears for long stretches, is invisible often when the game turns physical and has been challenged by his coach on multiple occasions through the years for indifference and inconsistency. He's a skilled offensive player with a "hollow" game.

If, by some chance, the Capitals open up his cap space and sign Forsberg, the upgrade would be immeasurable. Elite+killer instinct. A winner. Exactly what that team needs to add, as AO, alone, currently brings that among their top players.

No. No. No. Not at that price tag and not with another year left.

Even at half price on re-entry waivers if it ever comes to that. Again, no.

A team official confirmed report by @TSNBobMcKenzie that Michael Nylander is on waivers, but no said no deal is imminent.

#Caps are still exploring options, and Nylander would have to clear waivers if he were loaned to a team in Europe.

I'm sure a team like Nashville or Minny could use him if he was put on re-entry waivers. The way Injuries have piled up for the Canucks they could use him (@2.4) until everyone is healthy, then waive him again

Why in the world would Nylander waive his NMC if Washington was going to send him to the AHL? I would think there has to be an interest in place from a team to take him on re-entry or why would he waive it?

I am also curious if this to facilitate a move to Europe does it negate the cap hit to the Caps?
