Overview
Extra InformationChris Osgood has made 82 saves and allowed two goals during the Red Wings' season-high three-game winning streak.

Osgood made 33 saves and stopped both shots he faced in the shoot-out to help the Wings to a 2-1 victory over the Sharks on Thursday night. His goals-against average has dropped to 2.54, and his save percentage is .910.

"Our goaltending is so important for us," coach Mike Babcock said after Thursday's game. "It's been way stronger for three games in a row. Ozzie's got to feel real good about himself. It's important -- I don't care who you are and how much you won in the past -- that you get on a roll and you feel good about yourself and how you play. Then the puck just hits you and sticks to you a little better. Good for him. We're playing well in front of him, but he's making saves."

Osgood's mind-set hasn't changed much now that he has enjoyed a stretch of success. "I don't think about much," he said. "Just be tall, be big. That's all. I just play, just try to keep them off the board, give our team an opportunity to win the game."

NOTEBOOK:
Grand Rapids Griffins coach Curt Fraser has been impressed with the play of 19-year-old rookie goaltender Thomas McCollum. McCollum is 3-2 with a 2.57 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in six games. "McCollum is a guy that's way ahead of his years," Fraser said. "Good technically, works very, very hard and is a great kid. He's got all the tools to become a Detroit Red Wing in the future." ... Fraser is also starting to like what he sees from 18-year-old forward Tomas Tatar, drafted by the Wings with the 60th overall pick last summer. Tatar, a native of Slovakia, has two points in five games.

"Tatar missed the first five games because of immigration problems," Fraser said. "He scored his first goal the other night. I'm looking for some real big things from him this year. Skill-wise, there's not many better on our team." ... The Wings took Friday off.

Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Eaves will miss tonight's game in Toronto due to a sore left foot.

Eaves blocked a shot during the third period of Thursday's game against San Jose. X-rays revealed no fractures. He is listed as day-to-day and should be able to play Wednesday in Columbus.

Brad May returns to the lineup, one week after injuring his right eye, getting clipped by teammate Jason Williams' stick. May will wear a visor for the time being. Chris Osgood will start in goal
.

Eaves has a sore foot. If he didn't I'd be pissed to. Hopefully we can open up the offense a little bit today and stick it to Gustavsson.

Pav scores twice, Bert w/ a goal and an assist. Wings 4-0.

Ditto on Eaves. He was very impressive the last couple of games. I like the speed you get with Helm and him together too. I'm very optimistic about this pick-up by Holland.

[Mod: fugu had a brainfart] and with a tired Leafs team, they have no excuse. The more interesting aspect will be to see how much crap Dats and Z get from Cherry for being, you know, Euros. (Never mind that they're the two hardest working Wings who have never taken a night off.)

too bad they are not starting toskala.

gustavsson was excellent in his last 2 games vs TB and carolina.

toskala, though, may be the worst goalie in the NHL.

TML have the worst PK and the 3rd best PP, so special teams are even more important than usual.

losing would be too embarrassing.

just a little point of clarification... while the PK% is bad for the Leafs, they've completely switched up their system, and are getting great goaltending from Gustavsson. I don't think they've let in a PP goal in the last 4 games.

They are 15/17 on the PK in the last 4 games while being 4/21 on the PP.

Does anyone read TG's info anymore, or even the thread title?
