Listening to LAs coach comment on the game describes our team perfectly.

When we work hard, we can beat teams with better talent. Consequently, if our more talented opponents give good effort, they mostly likely win the game no matter what we do.

Nothing new, but it seemed somewhat complimentary. So these comments beg the question, is Trotz still able to motivate sub-par talent to the point where they out work their opponents over the course of a long season?

Is it too early to determine if this group of Predators will buy in to Trotz's system?

No, not at all. If anything has been shown this season it is that the team is willing to buy into the system and work hard for Trotz. They really struggled at the beginning of the season finding their identity, but if you look at the players we have changed from last season, it was to be expected. Some new leaders have emerged (Smithson in particular, Suter and Weber back on D) and others have stepped up their game taking on new roles to plug some of the holes in our lineup.

We are short on one particular talent, the ability to finish (goal-scoring). Everyone knows it. But they are not letting that stop them. To be successful this season we have got to find ways to score some gritty, non-highlight reel goals on a nightly basis. The rest of the game has come around, but it will remain a nightly struggle to find offense. We heavily outshot Anaheim and essentially did the same against Los Angeles (total shots were 57-44), now we've simply got to find guys that can consistently put the puck behind the netminder...
