I suppose you could ask Hemsky to keep it simple. Pucks to the net, no unnecessary stick handling in the slot while being checked.

I get it: If they aren't useless liabilities who can dangle or punishing hitters, they aren't good enough for you.

Ship out Cogs only if you can package him with Ethan.

I'd happily see both go if we get a third line winger that can forecheck.

A team like Carolina might like a player like Moreau, because they are very soft.

That might be a good team with everyone back.
I think you mean we need to bury Horc in the minors, but I figure it's a typo.

Actually, ninety percent of the Oiler players need to learn how to pass, so that the receiving player can take a one timer. You know, like Penner did on the O'Sullivan pass? It wasn't a slapshot one timer, but it was a quick release without stopping the puck, and Anderson never had a chance on it.

Potulny had an awesome game tonight (not just offensively) but in the 3rd period alone he cleared a couple pucks out of the defensive end.

Lubo is nuts. Seriously. He makes so many unreal plays on defense every game. Other people eff up and he comes back and takes glorious chances away.

I'm glad Gilbert got his 1st goal. Hopefully that builds his confidence and he plays how he did 2 years ago and parts of last year.

This team showed more heart tonight then they have the last few games and that is what is frustrating at times. They have talent to win games but a lot of the times there is no heart.

Ottawa/Buffalo up next in back to backs. I'm sure Deslauriers will start one of them.

Fair enough. The real problem with the PP is Horcoff imo. He doesn't bring anything at all and would be much better suited getting those minutes in an ES defensive role which unfortunately, is his niche.

WTF? I said that he has good hands around the net, that's a compliment. He doesn't have a very good shot and he isn't usually the best of playmakers, but he has good hands around the net. Just because I'm not trumpeting him as an elite 2 way player I'm crapping on him? Give me a ****ing break and cry a river elsewhere.

That was a beauty pass by Grebs for the Potulny goal. Pots looks like he has a decent one timer. A decent one timer in the sense that it can be effective and he would be willing to use it... unlike Penner, who doesnt seem like a shoot heavy kind of guy.

The old Oilers PP set up with Penner screening and Hemsky feeding, if he fed it to Potulny, would that result in more goals? Horc is clearly not the same one timing guy that Oil fans were used to... that one year.

Chorney to the PB, trade Gilbert at the deadline or sooner if there's a good offer on the table for him.

Visnovsky - Smid
Souray - Grebs
Staios - Struds
Chorney

Should be pretty solid. Unfortunately, I don't think Souray will be back for a while. Hope I'm wrong.

Good night everyone, I'd rather leave and enjoy my Sunday night than get into a pissing match because I paid Reddox a compliment but yet it's not good enough. Big win, hopefully the club can build off of it.

Well hes skating again so thats a good sign

We should take our time with him though, I think we can survive a little while longer without him, its going to be hard but we can do it

Just for DSF. The cavalry did come!

Yes it was only one game but Potunly and Redox were a big part of this win.

Yes I will compliment Reddox, he showed a lot of energy, good PK work. Exactly what this team needed.

I agree that you move one of Gilbert or Grebs. Smid's more than ready to play in the top four and Grebs or Gilbert would both fetch solid returns I would think and there's no point in one of them being on the third pairing which is where one would belong seeing as how Lubo, Souray, Smid are 1-2-3 imo. I just hate that third pairing of Staios and Struds. Zero mobility. I'd consider giving Chorney some games over Strudwick. Let's just hope we can get healthy enough to have this discussion.

Great job by Reddox and Potulny. Penner is the man as always, Grebs and Gilbert looked to get some mojo back.

Nilsson had a good game.

I truly think Nilsson is going to turn the corner sometime soon. He obviously wants to, especially considering he sought out Quinn to help him the other day.

Nilsson with confidence = decent NHL player.
Nilsson without confidence is far too hesitant for his skillset to be useful.

Taking nothing away from Potulny and RedOx, they were both really good. But, its easy to look good in one game. This team and its members suffer from one consistency - inconsistency. Till that can be erased from their games, I'm afraid Oiler fans can never rest easy.

But hey, if it aint a rollercoaster, then it aint Oilers hockey!

Revealing I think that we score 4PP goals on the one night that Hemsky isn't on it.
The best thing a PP can do is move the puck quickly and make snap decisions with either a pass or a shot. Hemsky likes to control the PP, and often holds on to the puck too long - usually it takes a perfect play or a Souray laser to get a goal. Moving the puck slowly plays into the hands of the penalty killers.

I'm not saying the PP is better without Hemmer, but the units tried different things tonight (ie. quick puck movement) and it worked out. Hopefully they can sustain that.
