Will Rick Nash make it to 100 pts this season?

With our captain being on pace for over a 100 point season, will this be his year to do so? Can he also reach his first 50 goal season? He has been a monster in pretty much all but two games, and I definitely think he is putting the team on those broad shoulders and keeping us atop the division

Don't know. Maybe. Has a good shot.

I also don't know why this thread is tagged as a proposal. So many things I don't know....

90 plus seems about right. 100 would be VERY nice.

I'd say yes, barring injuries.

I normally don't give a hoot about individual stats, but seeing Nash hit 100 points would be great. His chances this year are pretty good, based on what I've seen so far (I've been out of the loop from a Jackets perspective for much of the last month due to those pesky family and work commitments).

Nash reaching 100 points should go a long ways toward the Jackets reaching 100 points, which is the more important goal.

Doubt it. He always has a couple dry weeks. Combine that with the Olympics and I'll say he ends up at 80+, but not near 100 at the end of the day.

Nash traditionally has a stretch in January/February where he disappears for a bit. I voted for no, but it's impossible to tell at this stage. Let's revisit this during the Olympic break.

Agreed, he seems to be satisfied with lulls during late winter, but generally speaking he picks his game up defensively and starts to throw the body

If CBJ actually holds onto the division, I expect 40-40 from him, nice to see the apple totals up for once, and not the 15 shots per game (but hey when in Rome)

He will finish with 97.

People will continue to hate on him for not being a "100 point player," he is not a super star player. And when I say people, I mean those on HF.

I don't think he will. 100 points is a lot of points...I just don't think the support around Nash will enable him to score 100 points.

I know right.

"Yeah, but he hasn't scored 60 points"

"Yeah but he hasn't even reached 70 points"

"Okay, but he hasn't gotten to 80 points yet"

I'm sick of it.

If the supporting cast plays the way it is RIGHT NOW the entire season, He has a shot. If they get worse, No shot. If they get better, Yes.

I'm getting older. Gotta keep in practice!

But seriously, his defensive numbers are projecting to be staggeringly bad so far, especially compared to last season. Last season, he was on the ice for 23 PPGA. This season, after only 16 games, he's been on the ice for almost half that. Last season, he was on the ice for 59 ESGA. This season, he's on pace to pass that mark by the middle of the season.

I've been wondering if part of the problem is puck possession. Rick's getting the points, but his lines aren't really dominating for large stretches of the game. In other words, they don't have the puck as much as better lines would, so the other team has more opportunities to score against them. When you couple that with a Jackets team that has been fairly poor defensively, it starts to show up on the stats sheet.

Haven't been impressed with what I've seen of Nash defensively on the ice this season. But he isn't the only problem. Still, if the Jackets are going to recommit to playing strong defense, I know who should be leading the charge.

high 80's/low 90's I say, I highly doubt he'd make 100 points. The centers keep being switched, blob er i mean hitch wants him to play defensively

I hate it when people make me defend either Hitch or Nash. You've now made me do both. Congratulations.

The portion of your post I highlighted is absolutely ridiculous as it pertains to Rick Nash's game. Since Hitch has been his coach, Rick Nash has been transformed into one of the most dangerous penalty killers in the league. He is a constant threat to score when the CBJ are a man down and I think we have Hitch to thank for that.

His defensive game is one of the reasons Nash has a chance to score 100. I don't think he will, but he's got a chance.
