Going after Horton?

Rumor as it, that the Florida Panthers are shopping around Nathan Horton. What would it take to bring him to oil country?........I would package together Nillson, Grebs, and a 2nd round pick.....Horton brings some needed scoring and he plays with an edge. Nillson is just one of the small forwards we have and Grebs is just one of the offensive d we have....Just my opinion.....THOUGHTS

I would do something along the lines of that except I would move Gilbert instead.
I think a raging hockey market like Edmonton is what Horton needs.
It's also exactly what we need. A huge physical, shoot first forward.
He would be great here.

He seems to have attitude issues. A big no thanks for me. We have enough of those already.

That looks pretty good. I was thinking Cogs for Horton, but I like the Gilbert swap for Allen that you added. Something else would have to be heading the other way to even up the value, and I'm not sure Nilsson or Moreau would get it done, but if it does then so much the better. I suspect that they might ask for Omark in the return package, and I'm not sure how I would feel about that.

NOOO WAYYYY that we are trading Nilsson, Grebeshkov and 2nd round pick for Horton... The best I would do is Nilsson, Grebeshkov a 3rd rounder + either a prospect or a 4th rounder. Ive been waiting forever to make this proposal and boy am I glad that someone finally started a Horton to Oilers thread..

Im not concerned about those issues that people talk about. From what I can see he stands up for his team mates and hurts guys. You put this guy in the spot light and I believe he would be a 30-30-60 player and impose his will on others.

Is this really a 'rumour' or just the speculation of fans who want this guy so badly that others are now just misinterpreting everything?

I think it's more speculation which then becomes a rumour on a certain site that dishes out E-ratings.

Horton signed a 4 year deal that included a NTC that kicks in on July 1, 2010

It's got a bit of legs, Dregger was on just a game last week and mentioned that his name has been poping up lately, so there may be something to this.

4th Horton thread I've seen.

Reminds me of all the other threads I saw during the offseason. Saw how those went.

Not even if we're trading some of those guys away.

Hmmm this is absolutely out of the blue

Wouldn't mind him here. Depends what we give up though. IMO don't think Florida is in a huge hurry to get rid of him. Probably with the right package. But I think this rumour has already been beaten to death.

Lies, Eklund says we're looking at a 'center' in NJ. So this MUST have some legs

Cogliano, O'Sullivan, 3rd round pick. I think we can become easy playoff contenders with that move.

Horton plays better as a winger.........he can play center, but after watching a few panther games the play-by-play guys say he is better/more comfortable on the wing

Here is a link confirming that Horton and Olesz are on the block....but does not mention the Oilers involved

Olesz likes to shoot the puck, I wouldn't mind getting him either.
