If it makes anyone else feel better, Vancouver is getting worked over in St. Louis.

Rin made a Messier-like guarantee and it backfired.

That's OK though, we're happy with our own Matt Hasselbeck.

When pucks go in off the crossbar.post they don't have a backward motion, its lateral or stays forward.

Bit different when its off the post then the puck travels backwards to hit the goalie.

I could be wrong, its just its a different situation.

The other day a goal was scored the same way in a SO and it didn't count.

The great thing about the game was how much effort the guys put in. Good sign.

Bad thing is they might be gassed against Buffalo tomorrow night.

I dunno about that. The Blues haven't been very good so far this year and I wanted that to continue.

It is very specific in the rulebook that it does count.

I think the play you are thinking of happened on the weekend, and the player touched the puck with his stick again after the shot was made. (During a St. Louis game, I believe)

I can live with this loss. Good effort, hard work, overcame a lot of injuries, got a lot of shots at the net and traffic too.

Penner is a beast. Staois was strong. Got a little misty eyed seeing Gator in the crowd.

I really don't think that should have been a goal.

Spezza hit the post. He did not score.

The rebound off the post just happened to hit Deslauriers and go in. If it didn't hit him, it wouldn't wouldn't have gone in.

Should have been reviewed and not counted.

EDIT: Missed Ol' Jase's post. Woops. Still, seems like a sketchy goal.

Actually - lets go to the rules:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26308

Quote:
25.2 Procedure - The Referee shall ask to have announced over the public address system the name of the player designated by him or selected by the team entitled to take the shot (as appropriate). He shall then place the puck on the center face-off spot and the player taking the shot will, on the instruction of the Referee (by blowing his whistle), play the puck from there and shall attempt to score on the goalkeeper. The puck must be kept in motion towards the opponent’s goal line and once it is shot, the play shall be considered complete. No goal can be scored on a rebound of any kind (an exception being the puck off the goal post or crossbar, then the goalkeeper and then directly into the goal), and any time the puck crosses the goal line or comes to a complete stop, the shot shall be considered complete.

Narnia, that is from the NHL rulebook.

In the play you are thinking of the player touched the puck after his initial shot. There is no bias here.

We were 6-2-1 in our first nine games, and 2-6-1 in our last nine games.

Should've won that game, so close!

Okay well, since the Oiler game ended there's been one near fight and now one actual fight.

Five minutes left. I hope this game gets really dirty.

Seems like a BS rule to me.

Spezza's shot did not go in. It was the rebound off the post that happened to hit something and then it went in.

The original shot was not a goal.

Backwards motion? I think you are stretching a bit there. As long as he keeps the puck in motion towards the goal line until the play is concidered complete then its ok, and he did that so its a good goal.
