It's still early, but I'm very surprised of the play of this team. They seem to get better, with each game. I also hate to say it, but this team has been better defensively since Oduya's been out and Fraser in, and of course the All-Star play of Andy Greene.
Even Murphy and Peters are playing decent. And I agree with some other posters regarding Sestito, I'd like this kid to get a shot at third line center with a healthy line-up.

That was a very confident bunch out there tonight. IMO, it was just one of those games where you knew the Devils were going to win. They controlled the play for the majority of the game I thought.
Great PK tonight too, and just all around smart and steady play at both ends. Not many mistakes being made out there by anyone. Also impressed by Sestito, quick on his feet, always going 110%.
Yeah, it was one of those games where when the Ducks tied the game, all that was going through my head was: Ok, they got a lucky goal, we can get it back easily.
Unlike earlier in the season when I was thinking: Oh no, how are they gonna score a nother goal.
They are definitely playing well nowadays, and with these AHL callups sprinkled in between it is really amazing.
I'm afraid sweet Clarkson goals over the Ducks in November do not, in fact, last a lifetime.
They do if you're James Wisniewski, who will probably be reminded by his teammates all season long that he was absolutely undressed by friggin' David Clarkson.
Sorry for the late post, but damn good game last night.
Clarkson's goal.... just WOW!
So, did anyone else watching the Ducks feed last night (only watched because it was HD), notice what I did in the 3rd period? The announcers were rattling on and on about how the Devils were going to go into a defensive shell being up 3-1. They said the Devils would only have 1 fore checker while the other 4sat back in the neutral zone. At the exact same time they were saying this, we had 3... that's right THREE... fore checkers in the Anaheim zone!
Can anyone give me a link that compares time of possession? The Ducks announcers were also complaining that we only had 2 shots on goal in the 3rd period and that we needed to play in the offensive end more. I may be wrong, but I though we had pretty good puck possession and played a good amount of the third in their zone, whether the shots were on goal or not.
Thanks for any links or help!
EDIT: Also, Sestito looked good again, and I think Halishuck had one of his best games of the young season.
When opposing announcers have nothing clever left to say, they always resort to the old nonsense about the trap. Add this to the fact that nobody can figure out what Lemaire is doing, and it's just easier for them to blame the loss on the trap and leave it at that, instead of doing some actual thinking. We've seen this time and again this season.
