"You Tried Your Hardest, And You Failed. The Lesson Is: Never Try" - Kings @ Canes

Carolina Hurricanes season recap:

Records:
Kings: 10-6-2 (22 points, 5th in Western Conference)
Hurricanes: 2-11-3 (7 points, 15th in Eastern Conference)

Team Leaders:
Goals: Ray Whitney - 4 - Anze Kopitar - 14
Assists: Jussi Jokinen - 7 - Anze Kopitar - 14
Points: Jussi Jokinen - 10 - Anze Kopitar - 28
Inability to do Anything Right: Niclas Wallin, Rod Brind'Amour, Aaron Ward (all tied for team lead) - infinity - none

Lineups (thanks MattBennett):
Samsonov - Jokinen - Ruutu
Whitney - Cullen - Cole
Brind'Amour - Sutter - LaRose
Walker - Yelle - Kostopolous

Gleason - Corvo
Pitkanen - Ward
Wallin - Alberts

Legace

Smyth - Kopitar - Williams
Frolov - Handzus - Simmonds
Parse - Stoll - Brown
Harrold - Richardson - Purcell

Drewiske - Doughty
Johnson - Scuderi
Jones - Greene

Ersberg

Depressing Facts to Dwell In:
- Carolina hasn't won a game since October 9.
- Carolina has allowed the second most goals in the league while scoring the fewest. As our record shows, that combination is typically not a recipe for success
- Only one player on our team (Jussi Jokinen) has broken double digits for points. The Kings have 5 players with as many or more assists alone, and 7 players with more points (not to mention Handzus and Simmonds who each have 9 points)
- Paul Maurice still has his job

Game starts at 7 PM, so bring the paper bags to put over your heads and cheer on the good guys!

Oh yeah, Pitkanen is out due to illness. Haven't decided if someone will be called up or if they'll just use. Conboy.

Logical choice would be to call up Rodney. Choice made will be to use Conboy.

Instead we'll re-sign Malik. Look for Vasicek too in the coming weeks.

Kings 4 - Canes 0

Quick is out, huh? So that's another backup goalie for the Canes to get stoned by.

Pitkanen out means the 4 best players on the team are out and the 5th is playing hurt. Lovely. I'm going with a 7-0 win, with Jack Johnson scoring 4 goals, Justin Williams has a post-hat trick and Anze Kopitar has 6 points.

Hmmmmm, interesting that the Kings are resting their starting goalie, a physical crease clearing Dman, and enforcer against the Canes. Need anymore proof that the Canes are easy to play against?

That said i fully believe the Canes will win tonight 4-2. Bring on a Kings let down!!!! Big game from Boychuk tonight.....oh wait...nevermind, please disregard, 13 in a row.

But seriously im expecting a Kings letdown tonight so lets hope the Canes will take advantage.

I love that.

Too bad they don't put the league leaders for that "stat" on the scoreboard during the game like they do for other stats. At least there would be a Cane that shows up at least one list.

lol at the team leaders. That is truly sad.

Supposedly they are trying to get Bryan Rodney here by game time, but it looks like it will probably be Conboy.

EDIT: Official now, Rodney has been recalled. We'll see if he makes it here.

Do not be surprised if you win this game, the scenario for an epic Kings **** up is perfect (believe me, they are really good at this).

That's what the last five or so teams we played have said, but I think they underestimated just how incredibly terrible this team is.

It's interesting how every pundit seems to think we will turn it around. Stan Fischler co-hosting NHL Live today and said the same thing. Speaking of Fischler, that man is incredibly entertaining. I would tune in to NHL Live every day if he was always on there; he is filled with interesting stories and speaks his mind with no reservations (I hope Tyler Arnason wasn't listening this morning).

the canes are using drugs?
someone call bettman.
this might explain why things have taken such a turn for the worse.
as for fail-related items, are we going to go with a failblimp instead of failboat?

They should display this on the jumbotron to get fans pumped up. It wouldn't really be much different than the "plus-minus leaders" graphic they showed at the Leafs game.

Oh, and I pretty much never start Jack Johnson in the keeper league (me picking him over EJ = ), but he's getting a start tonight along with Justin Williams. Guaranteed hat tricks for both of them.

The only way I would be okay with a loss is if JWilli scores a few goals

So you've called up Bryan Rodney, damn you we're playing Syracuse tonight! Hopefully a relative winning mindset can help you

I have my magic 8 ball inspired look...

As for the game, I finally got my free week of gamecenter working, started it today so I get 4 games. 4 painful, painful games.
