Senators Practice Today

I don't know if I'd trust this or not but it was on the Ottawa Senators page on Facebook.

Anywho this is the just of what I got from it about practice and line combos.

Alfredsson didn't skate because he was resting his bumps and bruises.
Volchenkov skated before practice and is improving.

Lines:
Michalek - Spezza - Winchester
Kovalev - Fisher - Cheechoo
Foligno - Regin - Shannon
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil/Donovan

Defensive lines remaind the same.

EDIT - The same thing was said on Sens Chirp except Sens Chirp provided some more information.

Volchenkov will be out of the line up again Thursday when Ottawa is in Philadelphia.

Basically the same lines as last night with Winchester filling in for Alfie.

Changes were Kovalev on the left wing instead of right.
Cheechoo on the 2nd line, right wing.
Foligno down to the third and as you mentioned Winchester filling in for Alfredsson.

liking kovalev-fisher-cheechoo.

i guess winnie and donovan are scratches again, though i'd rather see either in shannon's spot.

The wait for defenceman Anton Volchenkov's return to the lineup could be a little longer than originally expected. It was believed the hard-nosed Russian blueliner would be sidelined for two weeks when he suffered a right elbow injury in an Oct. 28 game against the Florida Panthers. But Clouston suggested today Volchenkov could be out another week to 10 days. "Each day, there are little improvements," said Clouston. "The swelling has gotten a lot better in his elbow. Pretty soon, (team doctors) are going to put a brace on his elbow, just to give him a little more support.

anyone who thought 2 weeks was realistic after seeing the injury was just wishing... I expected 3-4 weeks from the start. He went down awkwardly and had a 200lb guy on his arm.

I am thinking because Winchester and Donovan didn't get much of a chance yet this season and Shannon has been in a lot lately. Hes doing well but not producing.

So why not switch it up?

Having Shannon in the line up if Alfie needs some time off is a good thing: while Alfie is light years better they play a similar game.
Having both Alfie and Shannon seems redundant, I'd rather have Winchester in the line up in that case.

I think it should be Chum. I understand that its easier for Clouston to scratch him than a younger guy as Donovin won't complain or have his development stunted. I just feel that he brings so much more to the team than either guy. He's the perfect checking line winger.

i've never been all that impressed by shannon and am convinced that there is no way he resigns as a sen, so i dont really care about his development. Unless he is giving us the best chance to win every night, he shouldnt be in there. I think donovan gives us a better shot to win, and i think winchester can at least use the ice time to develop.

Alfie - Fisher - Kovalev should be reunited, with Michalek - Spezza - Cheechoo getting another shot.

Now that Cheech has a goal maybe his confidence will be boosted...and we all saw what Alfie does to Fisher's game.

Oh, I wasn't sure.

Sometimes stories put the lines together but not necessarily in the right order.

I honestly thought Foligno was on the 3rd last night because of the Cheechoo goal. My bad.

Anyway, I just see a guy like Regin floundering unless he has some speed out there.

Agree.

Although I wouldnt mind switching Kovalev and Cheechoo to see how it works:

Michalek - Spezza - Kovalev
Alfredsson - Fisher - Cheechoo

I've never been impressed by the nickname "chum" and as such, will not endorse either its use or Donovans.

Kovalev is twice as dangerous on the right wing, why does he keeps him on the left ?? Why not make Cheechoo play on his offwing ?

Because Cheechoo is slow and having him breakout on his off-wing would make him even slower, if thats even possible.

Kovy was on the right side.

I like him better there and with Cheechoo being a right shot on the left wing, we got some potential for some nice onetimers.

They just want to see if anyone can fill in the second LW role before making a move.

Neither Donovan or Winchester can make that pass that Shannon made last night. It''s not in their DNA. Let him get rolling and you will see more of that.

To yout point, that led to the tying goal which helped the Sens win, so..........?

Foligno - Fisher - Alfredsson
Cheechoo - Regin - Neil

Stop f'ing around, Clouston. Cheechoos, wether we like it or not should be playing on our 3rd/4th line, not on our top 6. And having Foligno in our bottom 6 isn't helping his development. He's showed that he derserves a shot in the top 6.

Also, for ****'s sake, stop jerking around and get Chum back in the lineup ASAP. He's worked hard and has done everything we ask of him. Pass (Shannon) or no pass, his skating, speed and forecheck are much more efficient than anything Shannon's bringing at this point. The guy deserves it.
