I was reading an Ottawa Sun article this morning about some of the creative nicknames in sports in the past era, and how relatively unimaginative they are these days (i.e. most of them just add the 'ee' sound on the end of the players name, like 'Smithee', 'Fishee' or 'Fishy', 'Kubee', etc). It also mentioned a fan that this reporter talked to at the game that had a good nickname for Pascal Leclaire (Choco Leclaire). (like Chocolate Eclaire). This is the kind of nickname our players need. I remember another poster on these boards who nicknamed Milan Michalek '9 Milan-metre', which I thought was pure genius (sorry I cant reference the source, I don't remember who it was).
So, I'm wondering what creative nicknames we all can come up with for Sens players.
Volchenkov - Russian Bull but I like the sound of Volchenkov just fine Phillips - Phillishave (despite the fact he is going bald, he is a hairy mofo who can grow a beard in an hour) Carkner - Determinator because of his perseverance to make it to the NHL and it has a tough ring to it
Matt Carkner - Big Country (Matt 'Big Boy' Carkner) - as per ott sun article
Mike Fisher - Back Country - have you been to Peterborough?
Erik Karlsson - Meatball - from swedish meatballs
Milan Michalek - M&M's - obvious why
Chris Kelly - The Refugee - saved him Toronto
Milan - Mach 9 V.2
Phillips- Big Rig
Volchenkov- A-train / Russian Bear
Spezza- giggles / "wtf spezza!"
Kelly- Battleship Kelly (though he should be stripped of this)
