EGG line, best line in hockey

Patrick Elias

3 Goals 1 Assist 3 games

Scott Gomez

5 assists 3 games

Brian Gionta

2 goals 3 assists 3 games

14 combined points in 3 games. On ice for 4 goals last night. Their only competition for best line is in Colorado. Forsberg line has (by my count, I could be wrong) 11 points in 3 games.

Patrick Elias is tied for playoff lead in goals with 3. Scott Gomez leads in assists with 5. Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta are part of a 4 way tie for first in points with 5.

All this while (although I hate to say anything good about the Flyers) being checked by a very good line led by Primeau, and playing on a defensive team.

I'll have to say that the Amp line in Colorado, when healthy is the best....

with Vancouver coming in a close 2nd.

Elias and Gomez have been #1 and #2 in points in the league since February. And they're putting up those numbers in the last three games playing against Keith Primeau's checking line.

That line has been the best line in the NHL for several months. Something happens on every shift.

To be fair to the Primeau line, most of the goals by the Elias line last game came on the power play, and the match up they had all game was against the Roenick line not the Primeau line. But yes, in the first 2 games they had the Primeau line, and although Prims did a great job in shutting them down, they still managed to produce, and are a scary line to say the least.

Elias is awesome. Those other two are just good compliments for him. You put any speedy playmaker types out there with Elias and you have a daaamn good line.

That goal off of Kim Johnsson's arm last night was genius. Not that other players don't do that also, but still...very nice.

I think Forsberg is better though.

Points don't tell the whole story as far as i am concerned. Both of those lines generate chances...scary chances. i think that can be said about the Naslund line also...i just haven't seen much of the Nuck's series.

They are a great line indeed.

Lets play the rest of the games before anointing them the best line in Hockey.

The scary thing is that they're putting those numbers up with MATT COOKE on their line!

I think the individual talent of the Forsberg line is better than the individual talent of the EGG line. The three of them just play so well together!

During the first 2/3 of the season, Marshall or Stevenson would usually play wing with Elias and Gomez, crashing the net and opening scoring lanes. Elias and Gomez put up better numbers than last season, but nothing amazing. Shortly after the All-Star game, Gionta was put on the line. Since then, Elias and Gomez have been the top two scoring forwards in hockey. When Gionta missed a few weeks when he was hit by a puck, the line stopped scoring.

Its just a perfect combination. Sure, the line isn't big. But Gionta plays as hard as a guy twice his size, and Elias and Gomez don't play soft games. They are fast too.

And most importantly, they are fun to watch. The three of them are fast and creative, and score pretty goals.

Back that horse up a little cowpoke.
The Egg line only dominated yesterday because they were being checked by the Roenick line.
They produced 8 pts yesterday and 6 in the previous 2 games being checked by the Primeau line. And the Roenick line still put in 5 points yesterday. So i think it's fair to say that each team will have an advantage in their own building because of the last change.

Fact is the EGG line has does better in 3 games than the Roenick line, while playing more games on the road.

Sure i'll agree with you there, but our goals are spread out through 3-4 lines, while yours are only coming out of one. I am happier with my situation personally. We shut down the EGG line, we shut down the Jersey offence, you should down the Roenick line, we come at you with the Primeau or Handzus line.

I ainted denying you there. But no one can compete with the EGG.

Btw, EGG line has been on the ice for 6 goals in 3 games. Flyers have scored only 8 goals total.

The EGG line is good, but overrated - much because of the fact that people think it's cute or something...

How can the highest scoring line be overrated?

The NBC line (naslund, brendan morrison, cooke) is doing terrific, but I'll say the EGG line is the best in the playoffs right now.
