I'm hoping that tonight's slow start was a result of rust from the long layoff. If we can build some momentum and avoid injuries, we can take this league by storm. I'm liking the headline on TSN 'Orange Crushed.'

Good spread of ice time. I like that the third pairing got at least 15 minutes.

Sweet, caught the Rangers tonight in the standings despite having played four less games.

Pittsburgh, you're ****ing next!

one of the things I am liking is that they arent sitting back when they get that 2 or 3 goal lead. Some of the things we saw last year where they seemed content to coast after getting that 2 goal lead in the 3rd we havent seen that of late.
They keep attacking even at 3 and 4-1.
You need to step on the throat and go for the KO. Thats what this team has done of late.

This team's stats player-by-player are sort of retarded...

Powe is on pace for 27 goals (0 assists!?)....but is still -3. Pyorala has only one point, but is still +3. Those are defensemen stats.

Carter leads the team in points but has a 0 +/-, despite being a good defender. JVR (his linemate) is a +7, despite being a presumably inferior defender...when the hell did he pick up that 7 over Jeff? Briere (same line) is a -3, and somehow has 7 goals, but only 2 assists (a weird total for him).

Matt Carle and Chris Pronger's numbers are stupid. 28 points, +27 combined. Every other defenseman has a negative +/- except for Parent (0) and Bartulis (+1), who've played eight games total. I guess its worth noting that Kimmo and Coburn have picked up like 6 or 7 in the +/- stat in the last few games though.

Bartulis looked pretty damn incredible last night for a rookie. I hope it wasn't a fluke, because he looked so incredibly calm out there on the ice. Far better than syvret or OKT i've seen this season. I know it's one game, but that kind of composure against the likes of spezza, alfie, fisher. Is not bad at all.

Whether or not he can hold it together against the likes of OV, crosby and malkin will soon to be seen. But he certainly deserves the chance to play them

Bartulis might have to stay in the lineup. He looked very solid. We'll have to see how he does in the next couple games. Could be a good partner for Parent in a defense-oriented third pairing.

I caught the goal replays on NHL.com last night.

The Timonen set play to Carter-JVR made me feel funny in the pants.

North Jersey could quite possibly be the ****** bag capital of the world. If I lived there I would most likely carry around a beater just to beat all those ****ing retards.

-Syvret had a few brain farts with the puck, but defensively I was pleased with him. One play in particular he was one on one with a Sen on the rush, and he forced him to go behind the net, took him to the far outside against the wall, and striped the puck. He looked like white on rice.
-Pronger is a beast, the reason his icetime is so high, is he literally stands where he is half of the time. He has Carle skate around, haha
-Timonen looked good, finally noticeable in that he was on the ice, I found him invisible in many games this season (which is not always a bad thing)
-JVR is the real deal
-Carter had lazy plays, but seemed to turn it on
-We were talking about how much Powe sucks in the stands, so of course he scores another goal, he has stone hands, but he hustles a lot, so thats why he is here
-Richie IMHO looked bad
-Giroux looked good
-the blonde a few rows down looked really good

Considering a lot of the points Carter scores come from the PP (where you don't get a +), it makes sense he doesn't have a run away +/-. I don't know how our 5v5 is doing statistically, but we have one of the top (if not THE top) powerplays in the league. +/- will suffer a bit in this situation.

Edit: did some stat checking and we DO have the top PP (at 27.9%).

Flyers suffocated Sens yesterday. Good game by everone.

When Parent comes back I would sit Syvret and play Bartulis for a game or two. Just to see how it's going. Kid really looked smooth outhere yesterday, maybe because he is that good or because Senators played like ****.

IMHO Barts style of play is better suited to the role a 6th d man needs than Syvrets. Obviously 1 game is never enough to judge or Laliberte would have played last night, BUT the D depth isn't as shallow as we once thought. If Parent is ready to go I say leave Bart with him for a game and see how it goes.

I'm REALLY liking Stevens bench management during this winning streak. I didn't think I would be ever saying that but to have every forward play over 10 minutes and every D over 15 minutes to me equals win. We aren't killing our star players and he's made the lines so that none of them are goal against machines.
