David Clarkson

Haven't seen a post on him, but I am very impressed with him.

I could see that he had some solid offensive capabilities, but he's advanced beyond what I thought he would be capable of.

His goal last night was a thing of beauty and it's moves like that that give a player confidence. As long as he continues to play his game, that move will always be there (just can't go to the well all that often)

You guys have a real solid player there.

I still don't understand how Clarkson is scoring at this rate. When we were six games in and he was at a PPG pace, I thought he couldn't keep it up. Here we are ten games later and he's still hovering around that pace. Madness.

Hungry players produce. I wouldn't be surprised if Ken Hitchcock served up a juicy trade offer for him right about now to get some of that on his team after the last 3 games.

I know it's hard to judge much in the pre-season, but from what I saw, I knew Clarkson and Zajac were going to be different players.

You could honestly see them maturing and playing smarter with more confidence. He needs to be a lock for line 2 if he keeps this up.

Agree. Zajac was so much stronger on the puck, especially defensively.

And Clarkson's skating had improved by miles.

Both worked very hard in the offseason.

As did Andy Greene (who got jacked and put on maybe 10-15 pounds of much needed muscle).

And all three are seeing the benefits.

Hard Work = Eventual Success

Mark of true New Jersey Devils type players.

A few years ago people where claiming our pipleline was dry now you look at this current roster and you start to see a very good young core developing with more young talent on the horizon.

I don't believe our top 10 prospect list has looked better in about 10 years.

Now if just some of our Defensive prospects pan out; just 1 or maybe two you have the foundation for success for another 10 years.

25 or under players on this roster

Bergfors
Clarkson
Fraser
Halischuk
Parise
Pelley
Zajac
*Corrente (hasn't played a game yet)

Not bad!

Halischuk was more noticable last night and he wasn't giving up the puck nearly as much. I think he's slowly getting into the groove. Hopefully he'll get to stay in the lineup long enough to get that experience.

That would have to be one hell of an offer to get Lou to agree. Clarkson is a rare player, exactly the kind of role player you need in the league these days. Lou won't let him go cheap.

Jim, I agree, it is very encouraging that we have so many solid young players. And with solid drafting in the last few years, our prospect pipeline is looking better than ever. I'd add Sestito to your list, I think he is 25 or 26. He is a pleasant surprise so far, he'd make a solid 4th line centre.

It's possible. Too early to tell. Personally I don't think Clarkson can sustain this scoring pace, and Rolston is due to pick it up. They may end up around the same by the end of the season. But right now, Clarkson is scoring more.

Yes. The PIM's will put him over Rolston.

I'm expecting about 40 to 45 points and 125 to 150 PIM's

I just wanted to state that I picked up Clarkson in the beginning of the season for fantasy and then when he wasn't doing so well, dropped him!

Look at him now since I dropped him...AMAZING!!

someone brought this up earlier. If you could only sign one of the two who would it be out of clarkson and paul martin. So hard. Espically since our defense is doing good without martin.

We won't be in this situation, because Lou has managed the cap well and Clarkson is an RFA and will get a cheaper contract than he would on the open market, but I'd have to say Martin. A #1 all-around defenceman is much harder to replace than a second/third line gritty role player with offensive upside.

Its Martin without a doubt. But its not like Clarkson is going to earn a absurd increase in salary. However with bergfors contract expiring as well it puts them in a tough position with Zach.
