Not surprised, be much easier for him than a home game.....be awhile before he see's one of those.

Toskala has to get going. This team isn't going to just sit here and hope he picks his game up. If he has another stinker I think there will be a strong threat towards his job. Joey MacDonald is a capable backup and can easily sit in for Toskala.

the only way to make Toskala trade worthy(if that is the direction Burkie is headed) is to give him some games & pray that another GM is crazy enough to trade for him.

Huet has been really good the past 7 or 8 games. He's 4th in the west in GAA. Toskala is not better than him. His term/contract is, but Huet is the better goalie, plain and simple. Huet has been better because our goalie coach told him not to go down on his knees so early aswell

I figured this would happen, can't expect Gustavsson to start every game for the rest of the season.

I just hope Toskala can do well enough to get us atleast a point out of it.

sensible decision
gusty didn't look amazing last game, and its time for toskala to have another kick at the can(maybe he will start playing better)
and im guessing gusty will play Saturday, so might as well not tire him out

You guys really think burning out Gustavsson, who has already injured his groin, is a good idea??

There was talk that he looked tired at Monday's practice, and the Tuesday morning skate. Toskala has had a bunch of games off, let him get in there.

It really sucks that Komisarek isn't there blocking shots for Vesa though.

I really hope he gets a win for us. Vesa, and the team, desperately need it.

agreed...

he's gotta play eventually, if he's healthy... better to give him Friday, see how he does and save the monster for hockey night in Canada...

good move, he might show up hoping to win back his job.

I can't remember exactly but during the interview with Tosk he mentions that he's glad to see Gust and rest of the team playing well recently, and his layoff actually gave his knee(?) enough time to fully recover and ready to face the Hawks. I truly hope he does well tomorrow.

Put your cash on the Hawks. Should be easy money.

When will Burkey & Wilson learn:

Jonas Gustavsson 9GP - 2.77 - .912
Vesa Toskala 5GP - 5.13 - .836

Let's see which team shows up in front of Toskala tonight. For his sake and the
teams, I hope it's the one that recently got a bunch of points and not the one
that was playing the start of the year and last game. I'm still not convinced Toskala
is as bad as everyone thinks he is. Love him or hate him, his playing well will only benefit the Leafs so let's all get behind him and get some positive vibes going his way.

Loving the positivity. Expecting Toskala to bounce back, now that he knows hes not a sure number #1.

Leafs 3, Hawks 2 .... Kessel with the natural hat-trick....

If you guys looked at his stats when he was actually 1st round draft worthy, he split his games almost down the middle with Nabby.

He had competition to fight for the #1 spot. That season nabby and toskala did extremely well.

Right now Gustavasson is on the throne and Toskala will fight for that seat. I think he'll do well if he plays 40 games and the other 40 to Gusty.
