I'm not going to the game - because our HS football team plays tonight. My daughter is a senior and marches in the band. Since its the playoffs, this could be the last time I watch my daughter march.

After discussing it with the girlfriend as she drove to work (who I would have been going with), we're reluctantly going to skip this one, but watch in spirit on TV. We already have tickets for Monday, though, so we'll be there for that one.

Sorry I can't be there to enjoy your special night, anteater. I'd have loved to though.

Is that using reverse psychology Hill?

We'll be sitting in different seats tonight, hoping to change our luck. (Yes, I firmly believe that my superstitions have an impact on the outcome of the game)

This game is hard for me to watch because of the Koivu-Selanne duo on the other side. They'll be in our Olympics 1st line so I really really want them to click in Anaheim before the tournament, but... Well they can skip this game and start clicking in the next one!

It'll be interesting to watch did the humiliating loss cause any damage to the attendance and how people react if Jackets are trailing at some point of the game. Impossible to predict what happens in this one really.

Pete

I think he will be white team number 3. They give the kids the jerseys at the game. I think he should be wearing the one that will be part of the video promo but I am not sure.

I needed the money for my Friday night league fee's so sold the tickets, needless to say, i'll be playing at 8:30 tonight. DVR it is, they must win this game...Ducks are sucking and we need to prove that the other night was a fluke, another loss at home will be VERY disappointing

Well I heard a ton of people saying that they weren't coming back yesterday; maybe (hopefully) it was all said in the heat of the moment? I hope... I was pretty pissed too; don't blame anyone for saying crap they don't mean I suppose. If they didn't mean it, that is

I'll be there, I just hope that my hard earned money isn't going to waste again, remember that I don't make $500,000+ Jackets! Going to your games hurts my wallet and my time, make it worth it to your fans! I wanna go home somewhat happy instead of super pissed off! Please...

If anybody has the number, could you call up the dressing room and remind the team the game STARTS at 7:00. Also, just for funnzies, lets try playing three periods tonight.

We've been playing very soft as of late. And now Juice is in and Torres & Pahlson are out. This does not bode well for a "Heavy Game". Please prove me wrong boys.

Absolutely! Big losses (or big wins, for that matter) are not always turning points - but they can be. This team needs to prove that they're not the Same Old Jackets and that they're going to be competitive all season. They can do that by not letting Wednesday's thrashing lead to a string of losses and a further disintegration of fan support and self-confidence. That one game was bad enough to count for three losses, but it doesn't. A sound game against the Ducks would be a small step toward wiping the bad taste of that record fail vs. the Wings. The CBJ is off to a decent start without really playing very well for more than a period or two at a time. Now is not too soon to correct that and begin to put together the pieces of a good, consistent winner. Another performance at home like Wednesday would be more than just "VERY disappointing," especially in the context of lagging attendance and financial instability.

Play hard, play well, and WIN.

Well I certainly hope they can do a complete turn around from the last game... that was some ugly ****. It may actually be the first Jackets game I've literally stopped watching in the first half of the 2nd period. (Of course some of that had to do with having the Detroit feed with their homer commentators, but still).

Anyway, I hope the last game was a wake up call and they come out ready to hit tonight....and I also hope Filatov isn't scratched either. Most of the goals (that I saw) from Detroit were direct results of lackadaisical goaltending and lazy turnovers off of bad passes in our own zone. That's got to change. If I'm honest, I don't really care if they win or lose tonight, I just want it to be competitive; there have only been a handful of games this year where the boys were totally out of it with no sign of hope (counting last game, I have only 3 in mind). If they lose 4-2 but it's a hard-hitting, back to the wall game, I will go to bed happy...or at least, less sad.

I predict that it will take longer then 5 minutes for the Ducks to score the first goal. We should see a better game, hopefully a win.

This will be intesting to watch, based on our response. If we come out flat again, I'll be really worried.

Oh also, it would appear that the slow start in the Central is getting back to its usual dogfight; I'm pretty sure we dropped from first place to THIRD with that loss.

As of this morning:

Western Conference

Central

GP W L OTL SOL Pts GF GA HOME AWAY

Chicago 17 10 5 0 2 22 50 41 8-2-0-1 2-3-0-1
Detroit 17 9 5 1 2 21 55 50 6-1-0-1 3-4-1-1
Columbus 17 9 6 0 2 20 52 63 4-2-0-2 5-4-0-0
Nashville 17 8 8 0 1 17 37 48 3-3-0-0 5-5-0-1
St. Louis 17 6 7 2 2 16 40 44 3-6-1-0 3-1-1-2

I know it's not easy to read these copy & paste things, but here it is, anyway. Statistically, one thing is clear: the CBJ can score, but they haven't stopped anyone. Also clear, they win close and lose big!

To add to your point Pete, the Jackets start slow and let their foot off the gas when they have a lead!

Across sports, teams that start out winning close and losing big usually turn out to be frauds. The CBJ need to get their defense in order or the second half of the season is going to be brutal.

An interesting thought, but meaningless without any substantiation.

No further proof necessary, this is incontrovertible!
