Still on the fence whether Mcarthur should be suspended. Ruff says it well in that he was vying to lean on him for position but they got tangled and he guided him into the boards. He also said he understood why it was a major, but there was no intent, which I can believe. To suspend him for one game at least would not hurt.

On a side note Comrie says they should implement fines like the NFL for head shots then players would think twice about doing it.

Gee, my finger really isn't on the pulse of the HF Oil population these days is it? That might have been the better topic for the poll of the day... sigh... I will just go back to my corner with my feelings of mediocrity.

The Trapezoid debacle, in my opinion, is the single most ridiculous "addition" to the game. I'd rather watch a glowing puck on TV than that mess of a thing. Just utterly useless and stupid. I hate it. Take it out, for the love of God, please, take it out!

Well but the other side of it is playing the game with some awareness and I'm amazed at the amount of time Reddox is perpendicular to, and facing the boards. The guy has been drilled silly into the boards now two times in a couple games and is a headshot waiting to happen.

The Motto:

Don't be in that position.

Yeah it really spoils things and removes a lot of skill from the game. The last game Ryan Miller, a great goalie, looks clumsy because he's aware of the trapezoid, can't play puck, and it looks like he just screwed up bigtime.

A new NHL viewer less aware, looks at that and doesn't know what just happened. Would assume the goalie just isn't very good.

Rules like this make NHL players look less skilled.

Exactly. You have to protect yourself. It took Hemsky a while but hes starting to learn a little bit. That being said Reddox is a small small guy and is going to get hurt badly.

Agreed.
MAP, Gagner & Horcoff are also notorious for it. Rarely do they even get a call anymore...because they're clearly willing to go face first towards the boards.

Maybe the NHL needs to institute a new 2 minute "lack of awareness" penalty.

Nilsson is back so there is no need even if Reddox can't go.

My bad. That would be our 23 players.

Edit
No we are still at 22 players. Might as well have 23? The way we are dropping like flies could be a good thing

No worries. You almost need a calculator to keep track of who is in and who is out on this team.... better yet a crystal ball.

i think the trapezoid is a great rule in theory but it seems strange having areas off limits to the players

that being said i dont think they should ever get rid of it unless goalies are free game if they go back there

I think they should allow the goalies to handle the puck in the trapezoid but while they are in there they would get the same treatment as a Dman... full bodychecks by forecheckers allowed

I wanna see some goalies flying around in the corners.. If the goalies dont like it then they would stay away from that area.
