Surely, what Twine meant was that over a larger sample (i.e. the season), the Hurricanes are likely to win more than 12% of their games. That's not unreasonable.

If you meant that counterinduction is a fallacy (i.e. each tails flip of a coin in a row decreases the chance of a tails flip)... Well, that's dicey (ba-da-bum bump).

Because if counterinduction is a fallacy, so is induction (i.e. each tails flip of a coin increases the chance of a tails flip).

And don't tell me that because the coin is 'fair' it's got a 1/2 chance of landing tails, whenever. I don't have direct access to 'real' underlying probabilities, and neither do you.

It's a Friday and my brain is fried. I'll argue anything.

Cheers,

Dan-o

I predict an actual hurricane is going to hit RBC center while the game is 1-0 Canes and the NHL is going to rule it a Carolina Hurricanes victory ending their atrocious losing streak.

Lines she suggests are, well, creative: Bergy - Neilsen - Okposo Moulson - Tavares - Park Sim - Schremp - Hunter Comeau - Thompson - Jackman
