I have no problem with the Bergenheim hit. Corvo was partly turned sideways and it was not a head shot. Yeah, hitting the numbers is a penalty, but so is a slash.
seen much worse overlooked. Definately NOT dirty.

Here's hoping to see a killer instinct in the 2nd period. If this team comes out with the mentality that 3-0 is not enough...then I'll be very pleased with the next potential step in their development.

Lol at people complaining about the Bergy hit.

Bout time someone on this team sent a message that if you hit our top guys we'll be willing to fight fire with fire.

Up 3-0, keep it pouring. Lots of hockey to play.

A cheapshot deserves same. Isles are down or tied, that's one thing. Up 3-0, nothing wrong with it.

"Disgusting?"

Why not throw in "dirrrrty"? What is this hockeysfuture...or hockeymothersfuture?

We're up 3-0, exceeding all expectations to date this season, yet our board is full of nothing but whining.

Amazing

Agreed.

You can question whether the timing is appropriate (especially since Bergenheim can show the occasional mental lapse), but the hit certainly didn't appear to be an intent to injure. Obviously the referees thought the same thing, by only giving him 2 min.

Id agree...it seems people have forgotten Dion Phaneuf's hit on Okposo

The Canes are melting down because they aren't playing sound fundamental hockey.

We are actually winning a game..so chill

Never. Frozen ice frightens me. One could fall and hit his head and all that disgusting stuff.

But I'm an awesome fantasy league player and can swap stats all night!

If you want the real answer, I'll happily share on PM. Not going to on here, lest some guttersnipe jumps in.

Who's whining? Have any examples?

This fan is simply standing up for the game being played properly when it comes to physical play, and having a friendly disagreement with one who sees things differently.

Frans is one of our top players?

As for a hit, I'm sorry but it's not like Bergy thought "hey we're up by 3, delayed penalty-I think I can afford to take a run at him". In the game you don't haev time for thoughts like that when a play is in the heat of the moment like this. That argument just isn't so. I can't believe people here are defending a hit from behind. It's a VERY DIRTY play. Regardless of the situation it's a dirty play. Period. End of story. If you don't think so-go play play hockey instead of sitting behind a computer 24/7.

edit: 2nd part not aimed at you specifically hipster

Maybe whining is the wrong word--complaining may be more appropriate. But thats the norm for this board, which may be why the rest of hf loves us so much

Edit: Bickering. Bickering is the right word. And nice play by Sutton

Maybe they still have that Sutter it on their minds.

Or they're down 3-0 in the first on a 13 game losing streak.

I'll go with the latter.

Not much else they have left to do with any sort of efficiency.

haha, Guttersnipe. You're one of my favorite posters for a reason, sardonic pessimism and all.

3-0...outstanding so far...

I don't like the feel of the game and the chippiness and fraction of a second late hits from Carolina. This is where not having an enforcer type player to keep players like Ruutu honest and a littlle bit afraid of taking a cheap shot at JT...KO or any of our other younger players. I don't want to see our guys getting mugged.

If this is the best we can argue about right now, than we are definitely playing above our expectations

Of course all may be different at the end of December
