Here we go...

does every poster on this board have ****ing ADD? Tortorella is 2 months into his tenure as coach. He's not going to take the crap we had last year and turn us into the 1997 Red Wings overnight.

I don't like Tortorella but I absolutely don't miss Renney hockey. That's for sure.

Renney has me at 60/40 over Torts at this point. Torts still hasn't proven much but i'm giving him way more leeway than 19 games.

Which would be?

Like play realistic hockey with a smaller and less talented team then we have this season?

We will miss what Renney did regarding player development and scouting I wish he stayed in the org.....but a Renney coached team...no way.

Fat lazy boring hockey.

Less than 20 games into the season and people are ready to jump off the USS Torts.

Exh A as to why the suits at MSG never thought the fans would put up with a rebuilding program ... no patience from some fans.

They don't have patience, go to a game, every second they prove it - "Shooooooot!"

Renney was here 4 and 1/4 seasons and had 164 wins. Those 4 years were more exciting then the 10 years before or the 8 months since he was let go. Like Singin' said, i'll take the 'winning' anyday.

Hopefully Torts gets these ragtags to perform close to what Renney got out of them.

No. But if you really want to revisit the topic that's been done to death 100 times over, no problem... Ultraconservative and boring hockey. No fore-check. No aggressiveness on either end of the ice. Bottom line.... the most boring hockey I have ever watched in 20 years as a Rangers fan. Maybe he had to do what he had to do with the talent he had to do it with... but he wasn't making the playoffs anyway. And it was brutally unwatchable. If it wasn't for Jagr and Avery over the last couple season... good God. On the bright side, I got a lot of exercise done last season during the games. Put on some nice extra muscle mass.

You're right. He only coached a team to a Cup. He hasn't proven anything.

I miss Tom Renney, and that's a sentiment independent of my feelings on Tortorella.

That said, I'm not a big Tortorella fan. And that's independent of our performance this season.

I had to read thousands of whiny Renney posts last year, including such gems as "chew your gum Renney, you ****" and "Renney just doesnt care" And now a quarter of the way into a new coach I hear whining again?

Anything less than 82-0 is unacceptable.

Actually I'd rather us suck under an aggressive Tortorella team than be technically superior yet still mediocre and boring under Renney, always making the playoffs but never going anywhere.
At least we can benefit from a high draft pick this way.

ps. I HATE his interviews, he's the epitome of ass clown.

Yeah, um, that never happened. Nothing close to that.

But anyway, just disregard what he did his first three and a half seasons and focus on the last 30 games. Good call.
