Heatley-Thornton-Setoguchi/Clowe
Marleau-Pavelski-Setoguchi/Clowe
McGinn-Helm-Mitchell
Malhorta-Nichol-Ortmeyer

Boyle-Leopold
Vlasic-Kronwall
Blake-Demers

Nabby
Greiss

Analysis:
An absolutely lethal top 6. Pavelski, Thornton, and Clowe should all be good for 20-30 goals, Marleau, Heatley, and Setoguchi should see 35-50, and will probably average 40. The top 6 forwards will also make up an excellent PP. The bottom 6 offers three things. First, with the exception of Ortmeyer, the entire bottom six are speedsters, and Helm and Mitchell are two of the leagues fastest. In addition, they bring great grit, and all but McGinn will be part of our penalty kill. Each of these players is a spark plug capable of drawing a penalty, or relentlessly pressuring the opposition.

San Jose's defense is, quite frankly, loaded. Dan Boyle could win this years Norris (though Pronger, Lidstrom, and Chara, or an up and comer could all take the trophy. In Jordan Leopold he will have a partner who can cover for him when he wants to fill the role of the 4th forward. In addition, it will be Dan's first opportunity to play with a d-man who isn't inept with the puck (Lukowich, Huskins, and to a lesser degree Murray). Similarly, Marc Eduoard Vlasic and Niklas Kronwall compliment each other perfectly. Vlasic is comfortable offering Kronwall defensive support as he jumps into the play. Also, Kronwall's physicality will compliment Vlasic's steady, quieter style. Finally, our young stud Boyle-junior is playing with a former Norris trophy winner. Demers speed, will compliment, Blake's lack thereof, while Blake offers Demers a calm presence to move the puck too. Defensively all 6 d-men are solid, but our focus is on puck possession, so if things go correctly they won't need to play much defense at all.

Nabby is playing scary good.

Analysis: The top line is the perfect line for an agressive forechecking system like ours. For the second line, we went with the format that Geno has been most successful with in the past, and that's having an offense-first player and a powerforward on his wings (Malone-Malkin-Sykora was the best line in the league at one point.) The 3rd line is very defensively responsible, has shown great, consistent zone time, and has proven to be able to shut down the opposition's top line. The 4th line features 2 men who have scored game winning goals in game 7 of the SCF. This line brings a ton of energy, and Mad Max Talbot will see shifts on all 4 lines to inject energy into them.

The Defense is deep, mobile, and very strong in both ends of the ice, and Fleury proved himself to be a clutch net minder in last year's SCF.

All in all, we feel that we have improved on last season' SCF winning team.

Dallas is currently in the Top 8 in the Western Conference. They are 8th in goals per game and 14th in goals against per game. Marty Turco is 8th in GAA and 11th in Save%.

Marty Turco is playing great hockey again, and Crawford's team is playing up tempo, attacking hockey. Adding Pavol Demitra gave Dallas some veteran presence and even more offensive fire power. While most teams shorten their bench late in the year and in the playoffs, Dallas can confidently roll 4 lines meaning a fresher team every night.

Dallas made the playoffs and beat the Anaheim Ducks in 2008 without Sergei Zubov or Philippe Boucher (both out from December to the 2nd round of the playoffs). Matt Niskanen, Nicklas Grossman, Stephane Robidas, and Trevor Daley carried the defense then, and they all have 2 years of additional experience in the league. Karlis Skrastins veteran presence and shot blocking expertise strengthen that group even more.

TJ Hensick - Paul StastnyMilan Hejduk
Wojtek Wolski - Matt Duchene - David Jones
Chris Stewart - Ryan O'Reilly - TJ Galiardi
Darcy Tucker - Cody McLeod - Marek Svatos
David Koci - Philipe Dupius - Matt Hendricks

Scott Hannan - Kyle Quincy
John Michael Liles - Tom Preissing
Kyle Cumiskey - Adam Foote
Brett Clark - Ryan Wilson
Ruslan Salei

Craig Anderson
Peter Budaj

A deal that didnt slip in before the deadline would've sent Preissing and Hensick and a 4th rounder to ATL for Kubina.

However that didnt get done in time so why mess with what works? The Avs are one of the top teams right now and are young and getting better.
