The only reasoning I see for that second line is trying to get Plekanec to get less points so he'll be cheaper to sign.
Yeah except he's an UFA so if we screw him over this season, there's no way he's going to want to sign here. I guess he'll be cheaper for someone else.

JM rather have solid defensive players as opposed to skilled players, hence why SK is still rotting in the minors. I still dont know why Carle isnt in the lineup, not that Leach has been horrible but he isnt part of your future...

Martin's handling of the young players strikes me as nothing short of abysmal. Benefit of the doubt and all that, but he's not just not getting results he's positioning himself in such a way that he won't get them.
Right now, I think it would be better for both players to keep SK away from Jacques Martin and send MaxPac to Guy Boucher.
I hate to say this because I had tons and tons of faith in the man, but I haven't been impressed by Jacques Martin in the specific area of handling the young players.

Having Laraque healty and playing well, with Latendresse and Lapierre could be an interesting option. I think they would both grow a few inch taller with big G beside them and play their pest role a bit better.
I put Pyatt on the 3rd because I like his energy and effort. It compliments M&M nicely.
As for Sergeď, I think we should see how he could do. When playing well, he can be almost dominant. He was for a few games last year (or before).
1. ask for SK to join the team and play with AK with Plek
2. split up Hammer and Spacek and put Spacek on left
3. stop detaching the 1st line
4. either bench MAB or ask him to slap shot non stop during PP
