Best prospects don't win the Stanley Cup. They're called prospects for a reason, sadly.

You're right. So I guess we should never discuss them...?

I thought this was going to be a Taylor Hall thread.

This comes from the numbers seen in recent years of lets say Marc Pouliot prior to Crosby, or Esposito more recently. Players who produce a lot of offense, but would that be translated to WHL or even OHL?

I think it is BS, but I prefer more of a qualitative method of scouting as opposed to the stats. I assume someone who knows a great amount about Corsi could also pull up some numbers either proving or disproving the theory that the Q is "overrated offensively".

I'm still pulling for Cornet to be steal.

Just confirms Oilers drafting has been good the last few years. Their development is whole different issue.

We rush prospects or stick them on horrid minor teams.

Maybe my math is off but it looks like Eberle is the highest ppg player on that list, even above Taylor Hall.

Do we have to have freakin downers in every thread? This is about our prospects doing well, what's wrong with that? I for one am excited to see what Eberle can do on the big club next year, don't know too much about Cornet

Make it three when we add Taylor Hall at the end of the year.

Are you freaking kidding me? Do you know what the HF in HF boards means? HOCKEYS FUTURE! Its a damned prospects site! The op shouldn't be talking about young oiler prospects here?

FinaLly to the OP, its nice to see the results of an improved oiler scouting team. Wonder if Cornet keeps it up.
I also think a prescription for Prozac should be handed out when you sign up. So many gloomy gusses never happy about anything

after watching Philippe Cornet a couple Weekends ago, I would temper your expectations. Because someone who is top 3 in scoring, I shouldn't have to keep my eye on him, he should just standout. If I was paying attention to him, I probably wouldn't have noticed him at all the 2 games I seen him play live.

Still if the guy is top 7 in the country (looks like top 2 or 3 in his league) he is standing out amongst his peers. That's typically who you evaluate junior level players.. against their peers, rather than some random historical data that likely has no real bearing on the current state of the leagues.

eberle is 2 years older than hall is... hall is a special, special player... there is a reason why eberle went late in the 1st round and hall will likely be the #1 overall pick.... hall >>>> eberle (and i'm a big eberle fan)

Please note Eberle's GP. He missed the first 5 games of the season while at Oilers camp. He leads the CHL in PPG.

It's nice to see the Oil prospects doing well. It's a shot in the arm for the scouting staff.

I thought it was Hockeys FUN. None of that around here I suppose. Oh well. Prospects should be banned from the tongues of all men.
