I haven't stopped caring .. it's more that I've come to realize we really are nothing more than a team that continues to compete for the 8th seed.

season after season, its one injury after the next, handcuffing management into their usual "no trades until we know" routine.

Then when we do find a jewel in the ruff, a-la glencross or hejda, they are let go. its frustrating.

I voted other, for the simple reason that I want to care (and obviously still do); but - and this is reminiscent of the past few years - the management seems unwilling to make meaningful moves; going after the big names aside (or maybe it is indicative of it), the past gives me the impression that they either want a king's ransom for their players, or they are stubbornly holding on to them despite the results. Trade a few of the players 'we' have in abundance to address holes - Cogliano nor Hemsky is the next Gretzky, nor are any of them, but I have to believe he/they would fetch something if put on the market. Management has done little to address glaring weaknesses that are not new to this season. I wish they would do something, as it would help me to have more faith in them.

Trades may or may not be the answer, but at least it would be something. The current team (with a couple exceptions) didn't do it last year or the year before, what makes some think they are magically going to become something they are not. The sames holes are still the same holes, they do not need to be PhD's to see this.

edit: This keeps up and my avatar will be going back to the paper bag.

I'm pretty much there.

It's been a slow grind since that 2006 cup run, but my care level is at an all-time low.

This team has degenerated into one of the running jokes of the NHL.

I used to post on here 15 times a day. Now, I might post that often in a week.

You can only get your hopes up only to have them crushed so many times before you stop getting your hopes up ...

I am in the same boat ( a e-town sportsfan in CGY) and it sucks to deal with flames/stamp fans. Even more so when I have nothing really to say in return other than agreement

I care, but it's getting more maddening by the day. As a fan of the Oil, living in the maritimes, it makes it doubly sour when i stay up late (mind you, this road trip hasen't been late), and watch them put in such weak-sauce efforts.

This team looked like a different team than year's past after the first 5 games. Then everything that was ever wrong before, became wrong again. Too numerous to name for sure.

My most hated play to watch now is the Hemmer to Horcoff cross-slot pass where Horcoff either whiffs his 1-timer or sends it directly into the goalie's pads. It's pathetic to watch.

So a favorite pastime of mine is to be making "relations" to a girl who has on just a rival club's jersey. Just something exciting about "sticking it" to a rival team... figuratively I guess.

And then they make breakfast wearing only an Oilers jersey!

To actually answer the question...

I thought they were gonna do miserable this month anyways. We play some good teams doing well right now and we've been pretty battered. I thought we'd come away with only 2 points on this roadtrip, so they're slightly exceeding my expectations, although I really thought that Atlanta was the game we would win when we first started the roadtrip.

That being said, what annoys me about this team is the lack of compete throughout the roster. That and the horrible powerplay that makes me cringe and produce excess amounts of cortisol.

Not at all, 15 injuries/sick players, when they get healthy Im confident we can make the playoffs

Plus its what 20 games in? So much time left

I care and despite everything I am still enjoying the season (at least as much as I can at moment). I just have to remind myself every now and then how much it sucks in the Summer with no hockey. Watching Hemsky the last few games makes you wonder if he has stopped caring sometimes.

It certainly would be more fun though if we were winning more. I have seen some things in recent games that gives me hope we are cleaning up our game of some bad habits that were setting in. I can not deny though it is miserable watching guys like Nilsson and Strudwick (I love the guy as a person but he is done as a player IMO) struggle out there game in and game out. We need to get healthy and get those guys out of the line up. On the positive side it was been a real pleasure watching Dustin Penner turn into the player we all hoped he could be. It was also fantastic to Souray back out on the ice yesterday. Also Khabi has played well and he has not gotten injured yet.

But if you go back and look at my old posts. I thought missing the playoffs had a good chance of happening. So no real surprise for me at this point. I still think it could go either way - we just sneak in or miss.

Nope. I don't think anyone here has. If we did, we wouldn't be here posting (complaining) about the team.

I care, despite my better judgement sometimes I suppose. I don't mind watching games where I can see effort even if it results in a loss but the games where it doesn't look like they are even trying really get to me. At the end of the day it's still hockey and I still love this team.

I think I may be at the point of moving over to the kings board, at least untill we get some good players and/or draft in the top 5-7. My life has enough depressing elements to it already without payig atention to these clowns.

No, otherwise I wouldn't be watching every game and checking HF every 20 minutes. I understand they had the flu and a spout of injuries, but now with Souray back, they're as close to the starting line-up as they have been all season. I'll give em another 10 games hopefully to get Sourays positive influence over the team back. After that I'll be in the suck for a pick crowd.

Same here, atleast the Habs and Leafs suck too, so I don't have to listen to all the Hab and leafs fans around here gloat.

^^^^ This

Anybody who says that they stopped caring but still posts here obviously cares still, we're all FANS for a reason Fans Care!!!! You think the Oilers got it bad, try being a freaking Detriot Lions fan (worst organization in sports) and i still care 2-31 in their last 33 games and one playoff win in 50 years against the Dallas Cowboys in 1991 when i was a young blood so it could be a LOT worse fellow Oiler fans, stop whining you big babies
