Can Filatov come back this season?

Sorry if this has been asked/answered somewhere, but I was wondering: If a team traded for Filatov, could they recall the loan and have him play for their team right away?

I know that if a team in North America loans a player in the minors to another team, they can recall the loan. But this situation is obviously different, and I can't find anything about the terms of the loan via Google.

Thanks.

From what I've read, if a team acquired the rights to Niki from the CBJ, they would then have to negotiate with CSKA Moscow for his return to NA. In effect, you would have to go through two organizations to clear him. And CSKA is paying his salary for the remainder of the year, not CBJ.

Caps Go After Filatov? (Oilers, Kings also interested) Mueller, Clowe, more

I am hearing rather that at least 3 teams have interest in Filatov. The Capitals, Oilers, and LA Kings. I also am hearing the Blues and Predators names being mentioned with Filatov, but there is a strong suspicion that he won't be dealt in the division.
I didn't quote the juicy bits. You'll have to go and read between these quoted lines.

So this means Filatov will be dealt to Chicago or Detroit.

Oh, this is from that Eklund dude. Forget about it. He'll have all 29 teams as a probable trade before the soap opera is all over. I hate that I clicked on the link and gave him another hit to boost his revenue.

EDIT: I also don't see him being moved to somebody within our own conference if he is moved.

Yeah, since it's from Eklund that technically makes it less likely... which makes me feel slightly better. Even so, the liklihood of him being moved makes me edgy. I think he could be great here if we didn't have ********* at the helm, but it's looking more and more like Niles has orders to not rock the boat, so which guy going away do you think is more likely...

Anyway, I sort of find it hard to envision a situation where we trade Filatov and don't get screwed; the more you hear "rumour has it..." the less it feels like he'll be coming back, and other teams are catching on that the kid doesn't want to play for our current coach. So what is the likelihood we get even close to what he's worth in return? Nobody is going to gut their roster to get him, and in fairness we can't demand too high of a price because (due to Hitch) he hasn't got too much NHL experience.

I agree. We're lucky enough to have the rights to the "best player not in the NHL" but we won't play him, and you know we're not going to get a great value in a trade.

What a clusterfudge

Was it that hard to figure out what the rumor was going to be?

Eklund has the Kings in on pretty much every trade lately.

The Oilers are also a popular pick ever since they failed to land Heatley.

And the Caps--Moscow Dynamo West. What a surprise. I'm just amazed that the Thrashers didn't get mentioned.

I can see him being moved in-conference because otherwise you limit his marketability. If you want to get the most from him, you open it up to everyone, then make a decision when the time comes as to whether you are willing to accept a truly ludicrous offer from someone like the Wings, for example. Datsyuk, Kronwall and a first rounder? I think Niki would look nice in read. An exaggeration, but you get the point.

What?! You mean other teams would want a snot nosed, crybaby Russian that just oozes offensive talent?!? Shocking I tell you!!!

If we miss the playoffs and choose Hitch over Filatov.....

Filatov will be back in North America by this weekend with Team Russia for the WJC.
Filatov's mouth + Canadian media = Lord knows what.

Then we can bring back Dave King. There's a guy that knows how to coach Russians.

Too bad the kid didn't hang around. This is looking more and more like a lost season that would be a perfect time for a young player to learn to play in the NHL. Plus, at this pace, Hitch may not be around in a few weeks.

If Filatov wants to play under Hitch he must change his birthcertificate and increase his weight over 220 lbs.

Final answer is ?:

Quote:
His (Hitchcock) double standard for veterans and youngsters has been perhaps the most grating aspect of the current season. The Filatov situation was badly mangled. Despite the fact that Filatov is undersized right now, Hitchcock never provided him with a fair opportunity to get in the rhythm of the game, and the kid’s confidence was darn near destroyed. He is an undeniable talent, with plenty of rough edges, who is now lighting up the KHL. Whether that situation can be salvaged remains to be seen, but it is a distinct black eye to the organization to have such talent jeopardized.

BTW, no way they trade Filatov until at least the trade deadline for an unbelieveable package. IMHO
