The Oilers really need to make a push for this guy. My guess is that Filatov is not actually going on be on the trading block though.
Well nows the time to make a push, Columbus probably doesnt want to trade him but with the way that hes been playing they might be a little bit easier to convince to trade Filatov.

Hes a LW, right shot, sniper, perfect for Hemsky

He wouldnt come easy though

Gilbert/Grebeshkov + Cogliano for Filatov + Columbus 2nd round pick? Clears cap space and potentially gives us 2 young building blocks. Hell maybe Hitchcock can sweet talk Howson into picking up Horcoff?

Horcoff for Filatov, done and done, and done again!

oh wow, two tough proposals but in the end I think I would do both.

Gilb/grebs + cogs is the tougher one to stomach, and it would be nice if it could be nilsson instead of cogs. I think I would give in eventually though as Cogliano is struggling to find his place here this year.

Horcoff straight up seems to be doing us too much of a favor, but the price is right for both.

The think about acqiring filatov is ha it would absolutely deem us a non-contender this year but would speed up our rebuilding proces greatly. I think I could stomach this if I had too.

How do you think Nilsson would do under Hitchcock? That I'm sure is what Howson is thinking unless he's ready to give Hitch the boot.

Im pretty sure they dont need another Huselius, Id do the Grebs/Gilby + Cogs deal in a second, just think

Omark (Possibly)
MPS
Filatov
Gagner
Eberle
Brule

Plus whoever we draft this year, WOW in like 2-3-4 years especially if we stilll have Hemmer, Penner and O'Sully by the time theyre all ready

How about something like

Gilbert, Nilsson and Cogliano

for

Filatov and Dorsett

I think Columbus would do this.

What about something like this?

Gilbert (4.000) + Cogliano (1.133) Total- 5.133
for
Filatov (2.196) + Modin (3.250) Total- 5.446

We take on a little cap but Modin comes off the books in the summer and can use his 3.25 to resign Gagner.

Line up looking something like this:

Penner-Gagner-Hemsky
Filatov-Horcoff-Osullivan
Modin-Comrie-Brule
Moreau-Potulny-Reddox

Decent looking line up, IMO.

Allllll night long/Lionel Richie

I doubt Columbus will do it though. Howson will probably wait the situation out even if it means sending the kid to Russia for a year.

Looks like he will be loaned for a year, and probably return to Columbus next year.

I say the oilers try to sign that rooskie that rangers let go in the off season and see what he can do. But the oiler contract situation prevents the oilers from doing anything big

What reason would they have to fire the coach? The Blue Jackets made the playoffs for the first time in their history last season. This season, right now they're just two points out of 1st place in their division.

Yeah well I'm pretty sure that's not that hard to fix. Btw when did Hemshy hit 210 lbs? Acording to the jackets site he's 185, Hemsky is listed as 192.

I saw Filatov listed at 175lbs. I assumed Hemsky was around 200. Regardless of what he weighs, he plays like a puff. Trading for him would just compound our problems.

Maybe, but it's not like Comire, Gagner and Nilsson are putting people through the boards.

even though he is more talented than all of our small forwards, at least they play with a little more heart. no thank you.

I agree, but I wouldn't mind giving a guy like Filatov a try well doing so.

at the draft he was the risky pick and today he is still a risky player. i have no idea how this guy is going to pan out. he could be a 60 pt player or he could be ahl aka giong to russia kinda player. no thank you. columbus is going to ride him into the ground or into somewhat stardom whether thats khl or nhl. but even if he was acquireable he doesnt fit into quinn's system whatsoever or really the oiler mentality. theres a reason theres only one hemsky that gets the ice time he does. we have the skilled forward already who can be risky. thats why nilsson fails to get ice time. i just see another skilled nilsson in filatov. no thankyou x2
